"MOM, LET'S SAY THERE'S THIS PERSON." Aomine started with his mom. She faced him with concern as she continued to do the dishes. "I did a simple mistake but it got that person into trouble— big time. Now, she doesn't kno—" He wished to finish his sentence but his mom is still a teenage girl at heart.
She gasped, "She?!" His mom exclaimed, almost dropping the plate she had in her hand. After placing it on the table to avoid any more accidents, she said, "Tell me more. Is she pretty? Is she nice? Is she smart? Oh my god. I'm gonna have a daughter-in-law!" She clapped her hands enthusiastically, jumping up and down. Completely differing from Aomine's distressed state.
He bit his lips and tried to contain his irritation. "Ma, not the point." Aomine emphasized so she exhaled loudly and tried to hold back her excitement. It was the first time her son has ever opened up to her which means she has to take extra precautions. "So, this girl—" He said again but was interrupted by his mom's very loud shriek.
Any sane person would have killed themselves at this point. But, Aomine knew he wasn't sane. In fear of hurting his mother by slitting his throat, he just stood up from the kitchen stool and walked away. "I'm sorry! I'll try to shut up. But you're my only son. My pride of joy." His mom said, hugging him tightly. He, on the other hand, was shutting his eyes and praying he won't blow up on his poor mother. Even when she pinched both of his cheeks, he remained calm. "Now, tell me what happened with your girlfriend."
Trying to pretend she didn't say girlfriend because he desperately needed advice, he started over again, "She's being falsely accused of this thing, and I did it. She doesn't know that I was the one who did the thing she's blamed for." Aomine explained to her and sat on the kitchen stool again. "I told the superior who's punishing her for it that I should be the one in trouble and to lay off of her. But he said I saved him some effort and he didn't really intend to keep her anyway. Do you think I should tell her it was me?"
For some reason, he didn't want to tell you. It was the first time in the full span of the (almost) seven months you've hated eachother, you've reached toleration. He doesn't want to ruin this. By saying he was a part of the reason you were kicked out, you'd go back to hating his guts.
That's why he was hoping for a no from his mom, but the look on her face suggested nothing short of disappointing. "I'll try to ignore the fact that this is the only time you've ever cared about a girl that wasn't me or Satsuki." His mom moved past it while Aomine was holding back a massive eye roll because he knew she was leading up to something. "Tell her, Daiki. She deserves to know that, at least."
Frustrated that it wasn't the response he wanted, he aggressively ran his hand along his jaw. "Okay, I get that I should tell her that it's my fault because it's the right thing to do or whatever. But if I tell her what the superior said, she'll doubt herself and will be crushed." Aomine went on a rant but when he noticed his mom's knowing smile, he had to explain himself. "And it.. would be bad for my reputation."
"Look, sweetie," She leaned on the kitchen island and crossed her arms, trying to empathize with Aomine. "If you don't tell her, you won't be any different from that superior of yours." That made him think things over from another perspective. Where he'd be the bad guy in both ways. "You're making her think she's to blame for this. Would you want that for her?" She said, in a caring way.
Aomine looked at his mom, mulling it over. His breath turned heavy when he shook his head. "'Just can't tell her, mom." He finalized and stood up, feeling like a huge weight had just landed on his shoulder. That feeling being guilt. "I need to get some fresh air." He informed her, grabbing his jacket, and walking out of the door.
It was known that he wasn't acting like himself. First, he literally talked to his mom about something. Second, he was so worried of making himself seem as the bad guy, despite being 'the bad guy' for months and months. And third, he was scared of disappointing you, of all people. When he used to, instead, wish to disappoint you.
