While in the beginning of such a beautiful night when the moon started to shine over all the white eyes looking up at it, you weren't able to enjoy such a pretty sight.
You were locking the door of your shop while keeping your eyes barely open. Today was a tiring day for you, given the annoying customer you had to serve just now and the nagging you had gotten from your father on the phone about some bullshit you could care less about. At least now the only thing you'd have to worry about was the walk home.
When the lights loomed over the street and made you look like a shadow, you hid behind the hood of your jacket and avoided the people walking by. It may have looked suspicious because of the little droplets of blood from your messy job and the dark eyebags under your eyes but you would have a chance at avoiding any creeps for safety precautions.
Trees and buildings went by like wind nagging at your clothes and hair. The night was still young and cold, and it was starting to scare you how quiet it had become. Late-night walks home from your job always bothered you and you were grateful when you had the chance to clock out early. This time that wasn't the case, and you were now left alone in the street with little crickets making sounds and the moon shining down your pathway and eyes. Now more than ever were you wishing that the people you passed by would come back and save you from this horrific place.
Minutes later, you found yourself in the dead of the town's light, and it didn't feel so.. lonely. Yet, you couldn't help it when walking by the town's square, it was a group of people all circled around something and you couldn't bear the curiosity brewing inside of you. Your anti-social self was screaming at you to go home, to forget about this the next day, but as the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat.
"Hey, what's going on?" Your voice was raspy and you had to cough to have it come back to normal when talking to one of the people nearby. You had to lift off your hood back to minimize the suspicion of you while walking towards the group. Did you notice just now upon closer inspection how they all had horror looks on their faces. The person you had called out to had one too, they gave you a disgusted look, looked you up and down, and walked off as if you just laughed at their grandmother's death. Once the number of people was lowered, you could see the reason why they were gathered clearly.
It was true, curiosity killed the cat. And this time the cat in question was your spirit that died within you the moment you saw it.
It.. it made you regret coming here, made you regret that you took this pathway home. It was so clear why they came to see the thing, but just why did they have to stay? Why did they stay around as if they weren't disgusted by it? If they hadn't, you wouldn't have seen it too. Seen the image of the dead animal before you, slaughtered and eaten alive. It had no organs left, no skin, nothing left of it except for its bones fully in place that were covered in red. It had no head attached to it, no skull like it was taken from human hands. It was unrecognizable, to the point that it could've even been a human and no one would ever know. You've dealt with skinning animals and distinguishing them in way worse ways before, yet to have done something like this was purely heartless.
You turned your head from the flesh of bones when someone addressed you politely, their eyes had the same horror look as now did yours too, and everyone around you. "Y-you're the town's butcher, right? Do you know what c-could've done it?" They stuttered at their words, clearly frightened by the thought of said beast. "I-I don't know, I truly don't know. It c-could be a pack of wolves or a bea--" You tried to answer them but your words were stuttered out the more you talked about this monster.
In the mass of bodies of meat all in one place, you could've never noticed the white eyes looking over your figure up and down as if searching for something.
Even when you disappeared feeling horrified, it still remembered the smell you left behind of blood, meat, and sweet death.
