Post 27: And back around the table the seven of them stood after the AIs and the four survivors had returned from their expeditions into the various worlds of the simulation to extinguish the glitches that had been left behind by Rockwell's reckless tampering with the virtual world.
"Listen up, we have good and bad news." TK started, slamming his TEK gloves onto the tabletop. The other members were silenced in the blink of an eye as if they weren't quiet enough as they were. "Good news is that we found a way to escape the simulation. But the bad news..." – He paused, hesitating for a moment. "The bad news is that since the simulation is as broken as it is, it'll only be able to transfer out one single survivor. That would exclude me and HLN-A here, as we are both AI."
A firm fist was swung past the table, smashing and leaving a horrible indent in the metallic wall Locke stood right in front of. Everyone around the table was shaken, but remained quiet, only exchanging glances with one another as Locke stood there fuming. Not a single sound came from him, there he stood, taking deep inhales and letting out long exhales. Suddenly, the man burst out, "Fucksake!" Followed by a long groan of frustration. "Okay, okay..." He heaved, "How exactly DO we get out of the simulation then?"
TK looked at his creator, his hollow holographic eyes staring at him from the inside of the TEK helmet. "We'll have to hack our way into the system root. From there, we'll have to beat something the simulation calls the final test. Whatever that might end up being, we're not sure, but HLN-A suspects that Rockwell has set himself up as the final obstacle between us, and the real world."
Carmine, who stood at the other end of the table, was about to lift a finger to question the safety of this plan but was abruptly interrupted by Locke who immediately took the spotlight once more. "Great! Absolutely fantastic," He went on, in a sarcastic tone of voice. "When can we begin hacking?"
TK, once more, glared at him as if he was mad, and admittedly, he was. But the AI wasted no time trying to test his close friend's patience. "Right away, actually. But it could take days, possibly weeks for me and HLN-A to break down all that code to reach the system root."
"Just tell us what to do, and we will prepare it." Locke eagerly responded, his eyes swiftly gracing across his team members, whose shocked expressions were finally being swapped out for more warm, content ones.
