Nico's POV

"Mama! Mama!" My 7 year old self squealed, excitedly running to my mother. She laughed and picked me up.

"Oh! You look beautiful, mio caro." She complimented, smiling at the makeup Bianca did. My sister came into the room, proudly displaying her "work of art" on my face. "Did you do this?" Mama asked Bia. She nodded.

"Yep!"

"Did Nico want this?" She was the one to come up with the name Nico. Bianca nodded again.

"He was the one that came up with it!" This was before I changed my pronouns or even discovered that it's not exactly normal to be uncomfortable with the ones you have.

"Really? Well you look wonderful, Nico." I smiled brightly.

"We were wondering if you had jewelry we could use?" My sister asked. Mama nodded and searched her vanity drawers. She pulled out a necklace with silver angel wings on it. She held it out to me and I grabbed it. I discovered on the back were the words 'Of the Angels'.

"It's pwetty." I gasped.

"Do you want to keep it?" She asked.

"Can I?!" I asked excitedly.

"As long as you promise to keep it safe. It was your grandmothers. She gave it to me around your age. That way Bianca has her earrings and you have her necklace." I nodded excitedly.

"Thank you!!" I hugged her and she put the necklace on me. "I love it!"

I sighed, putting the necklace back in the drawer. It's no time to get distracted.  I had to finish these dresses. I'm finished with my parents, Holly's, Jasmine's, and Ivy's outfits for the ball, but still have to finish Lily's and mine. The ball was tomorrow and I barely even started on mine. The masquerade masks were all finished, including mine, thankfully so I don't have that to worry about.

"NICHOLAS!!" My father yelled, causing me to flinch. I ran downstairs to see what he wanted to talk to me about. He was in the living room, which was 3 times the size of my whole room in the attic.

"Yes father?" I asked.

"Where's dinner? It's 5:38!" He asked, furious. Oh no...

"I-I'm sorry I must have l-lost track of time. I'll get right on it." Please don't take away the leftovers, I've barley had anything to eat the last few weeks...

"No leftovers for the next week. Now go!" I don't think they really think about me as a person. They think of me as a...I don't actually know...maybe an inanimate object? I haven't had a real meal in years...

By the time I finished Lily's dress, it was afternoon the next day. There were only 4 hours left and I still had to complete my own outfit, which thankfully was almost done. (I looked it up, apparently it takes a few weeks to make one dress, so this is probably a lot faster than it would normally be, but maybe Nico is just really talented.) I decided to go for a suit because I know my family would be mad if I wore a dress. In my opinion, fashion shouldn't have genders. Let people wear what they want, it's not hurting anyone.

"Are you done with the oufits, Nicholas?" Persephone asked, storming into the attic. I handed her the finished products. She sighed.

"I guess these will have to do since you were so slow. Next time, maybe you should actually work instead of daydreaming." The next thing I knew, the door was slammed shut and she was gone. I continued working on my suit until I heard the door open again. It was my siblings, Persephone, and my father.
