The knight, alongside the other guards, drove the bandits back.

He turns to survey the wreckage following the attack.
A carriage was overturned, likely causing the roaring noise heard earlier.
In another carriage, he spots a few noblemen and women with concerned faces,
As he walks to the third carriage, he spots a woman walking up, confused and weary.

"She wears the cloth that knights use under their armors. It's ragged, however."
"Her sword is not littered with blood but has a dent, I didn't see her fighting any of the bandits."
"She has the expression of guilt," the knight observed.
He clears his throat, "I do not mean to intrude, but you've left someone behind, haven't you?"
Surprising her with the line of questioning, she immediately looks up and nods.
"I have done that before. Sometimes I just wish you can do things differently."
"I should have done something... I wish I wasn't so afraid," she replies.
The knight pauses before continuing on to the path where she ran from.
She looks back in concern, "Where are you going?"
The knight shakes his head, "There's someone I'm after. Is there a problem?"
She looks up at the knight, "The enemy overran our defense. They came from that way."
"I'll be taking a different way- but that means... that confirms you are part of the knights. You lost the defense, didn't you?"
She nods in response.
"We could've won with my help. Unfortunately someone plotted against me and now I am no longer a knight."
The knight continues, "And so now, I am after that person."
"Let me go with you," she insists.
"And why would you go with me?"
"To avenge someone I care about. To prove to her and myself that I'm better than this. To finally do something I should've done but was too afraid to do so."
The knight nods, "Then follow me."
The duo walked for a couple of hours, barely talking to each other.
"I should probably lighten up the mood," the knight says to himself.
"So, I'm curious as to who's this person you're avenging."
She looks up, "She's my sister and she always wanted to be a knight. I didn't want to become one but I also didn't want us to be separated."
"I always thought being a knight means someone who defend the lives of innocents. But all we are, are just disposable lackeys that the higher-ups uses for his own betterment," she continues.
"I've once heard of a king abusing his power and knights to take advantage of the people," he looks up.
"We are close."
She looks up to see a river running overheard and a bridge that runs across it.
"It's the same river..." she mutters to herself.
She moves in to dip her hands in the water as he sat down and looked over the abandon city.

"This used to be a great place. I wonder if there is anyone left?"
