chapter 4

I sat in front of the big white vanity mirror in my older sister, Lin's room as she fussed over my hair. I looked at her in the reflection and laughed at the concentration on her face. "You don't have to do this you know," I said, my eyes wandering to the rest of her room which had white walls and a few posters but was overall pretty simple and bare looking. Lin liked her room that way, no clutter. "I could have done it on my own." She scoffed and I watched her roll her eyes at me in the reflection. "Yeah right, like you could pull this off!" She joked. I smiled softly and we sat in silence for a moment, just enjoying each other's company.

"Im going to miss you when I leave for collage." Lin said suddenly. "Yeah. I'll miss you too big sis." Lin cleared her throat and moved away and for a second almost looked as though she wiped away a tear, but before I could tell she turned back towards me and brightly asked "So! Any cute people you got your eye on?" And waggled her eyebrows mischievously. I groaned and smacked my forehead in an exaggerated expression of frustration. "Not this again! I swear that I'm single and it's going to stay that way!"

Lin laughed "yeah, that's what I used to think too. You'll find someone soon and they'll change your mind. I promise." I raised an eyebrow "oh yeah? Wanna bet?"

"Oh you're on little sister!" She said with a smirk. "If you don't start dating someone in the next three months than I owe you $50."
"And if I do I owe you $50?" I asked suspiciously, waiting for the catch. "Yep. Deal?" It sounded like a bet I'd easily win. "Deal." We shook on it firmly before she looked at the clock and told me to sit down so she could finish my hair.

as I looked at my hair finished in the mirror I squealed and grabbed Lin into a hug. "Thank you so so much, you're the best big sister ever!!" After that I dashed from her room to mine across the hall to change. "Do you need help with your dress?" Lin yelled. "Yeah I forgot about the lace up back!" I replied. Lin came in to help with my dress and stopped dead in her tracks staring at me with her hands over her mouth. My dress was a short sparky blue thing, something I loved dearly but hadn't  had the chance to wear before. The dress was bought for my formal in grade eleven before the dance was cancelled a few days before it was scheduled to happen due to a flood in the gym where the dance was supposed to be.

I felt like a princess in it, even though it felt kind of silly to drag out such a beautiful formal dress like this for a party with my friends I didn't care.

"Oh, Mina you look... perfect." She said tenderly, unshed tears of joy shining in blue eyes, the same colour as mine. "You've seen me in this dress before." I bit back my laugh at her reaction. "Yes but that was you before, when you were..." she gestured vaguely and I did laugh this time. "Thanks Lin. Now could you help me please??" She snapped back into focus. "Right, your dress!" As she laced up my dress I anxiously looked at the clock "Lin, Im going to be late to my own party!" She finished tying it and I raced to the front door slipping on my baby blue high top converse.

Before I could escape out the door Lin came running after me, insisting she take a picture before I went. I sighed but posed for a few pictures until I finally got the go ahead and ran outside.

A/N: I AM SO SO SORRY FOR DISAPPEARING FOR TWO MONTHS AGAIN I PROMISE IM DIDNT MEAN TO 😭😭 anyways hope y'all are doing well and I hope you enjoy this update even though it's smaller. I wanted to just give you some Lin and Mina quality time together because slay sibling duo and I also just wanted to give you something small as I'm working on my next big update that will have character descriptions and photos and all that stuff so stay tuned!!! ☺️
