"That restaurant was good, huh, Shiki-kun." Sawa grinned as they walked towards the subway. "Yeah, family owned businesses usually are." Shiki remarked back. He looked at her happy smile and blushed. He nervously glanced away, not wanting to bring her attention to his sickly achiness. He often got sick, everyone knew. Yuki and him talked about it. It wasn't like Yuki's childhood sickness, although both were sickly for life. His made him dizzy, he often swayed. Or it made him feel tired, and his family would insist he lay down. Hatori had told him often, resting would be the only way to recover from these bouts of sickness. No matter how much he hated it.
Shiki hated it. The blurry, fuzzy figures of his parents staring down at him. Hatori constantly examining him. A while ago, he'd started charging his parents for all the help he'd given Shiki. Needles were something he'd grown to despise and his parents doting on him was something he'd hated too. When it was Sawa, frowning as her eyes filled with worry, he found himself enjoying it. She'd rub his back and smile, stroking his cold cheek. Shiki, who'd grown to hate this kind of affection, found himself leaning in towards her. Relying on her. Sawa took good care of him, and one day, he'd take good care of her too. As they got on the train, he leaned his head down and onto her shoulder. His eyes snapped closed and he left Sawa alone, anxious with her thoughts.
Shiki-kun?! What is he doing? Is he seriously asleep on my shoulder? How? Why? He's so cute! Sawa thought to herself. He was seriously so cute and his hair was soft, fluffy almost. It tickled her neck as he shifted. Oh no! He's not uncomfortable is he? I hope I'm not a bad pillow or anything. I can't focus! I can't even remember what station was announced. Oh no, the station! What if our stop is next? What would we do? I'm so sorry, Shiki-kun! Sawa's heart was racing, her eyes brimming with tears.
She was embarrassed and disappointed. How could she have possibly forgotten the station? How stupid was she?! She leaned against his head, frowning. The station was announced as they stopped and Shiki raised his head. "Our station." He uttered and Sawa sighed. Her crisis had been averted but she was still guilty. "I'm so sorry, Shiki-kun." She apologized and he pats her shoulder. "It's okay, Sawa-san. I know you're trying your best." He kissed her cheek and smiled. "Now, let me walk you home?" He asked and she blushed. "Of course." She giggled and she reached for his hand. "Consider letting me warm up your hand my apology." She grinned and he blushed. "Of course, Sawa-san."
