Once upon a time there was an alchemist called Kamishiro Rui. He was seen as a threat to the kingdom by many people, he looked kinda insane and had the classic "villain charisma" but he was really powerful. Rui hated the royal family because the only public figure that represents them is the older and more powerful ones that were hypocrites and money hungry.
One day when he was going around for a walk in the forest he saw a short haired girl sitting on the ground, he thought of helping her but eventually ignored her. As he was walking out of the forest he noticed royal guards his instinct immediately made him run away , but before getting far he heard them talk "Where do you think the princess has gone," was the only thing he could hear, however it was enough. Rui connected the dots.
The girl in the forest was the princess and that's why she looked agitated, she escaped. He hated what he was about to do but his gut told him to help the girl, maybe he could get something out of this. He ran until he found the girl, and took her by the hand before she even could think of running away. "My name is Rui I'm an alchemist, I'm here to help" he said rapidly. In fact so quick it left the princess astonished and surprised, she didn't expect this. He picked her up bridal style as that was the only option he had if he wanted it to be quick. "Uh-uumm I, wha-" the princess tried to formulate a sentence, "It's okay you don't have to say anything, Kusanagi," just saying that last name made him want to vomit. He expected that the princess would be critical of him but instead he heard a quiet "thanks, a lot..." 'huh what did she say?' he looked down a little while running and saw the princess covering her face and digging it in her own hands.
After a bit of running they got near a small pink house with many animals, Rui let the princess down " I'm Nene, Kusanagi Nene," she said embarrassed of herself.
Rui heard it,a loud high pitched voice it was no other than his friend (that he was too obnoxious to acknowledge) it was a young lady with pink hair and nice glasses that kinda looked like an old lady's. "Oh Rui!, Hi I haven't seen you in a while!!" She said excitingly, "WOW! I didn't know you had a girlfriend, I thought you would never break you shell, haha at least now a finally have a female friend!!" She remarked excited. The princess looked at Rui just to see his reaction and he was holding back whatever demons wanted to escape from his body.
"It's not my girlfriend, she is here temporarily, I just need a talk with her, okay Emu?" Rui looked at his friend who looked quite disappointed and back at the princess that also looked kinda sad 'maybe if I let them talk I can gain her trust and get her to say more' he was bright. "Alright Emu you can talk with her..."
"Waah, really. Thanks!" He just saw how Emu excitedly brought her new friend in her house and followed them slowly. After he had told Emu multiple times they needed to go and just getting ignored,Emu finally said goodbye to them, unluckily for him it was already night, when the knights would be most alert of any clue of the princess and it would be hard to get her back in her palace with no trouble. He still needed to talk to her so no matter the time he was gonna ask her those questions.
He invited the princess in his "house" and she looked astonished maybe because of the many weapons, or the weird ingredients for potions , but actually "you have a cat?" She said flustered as she called it. " Uhmm...it's name is Skully..." Rui said very embarrassed. " Skully? That's so cute,-" 'specially coming from a guy like you' . Skully didn't like people much only Rui and Emu were the ones it didn't bite and barely didn't. "Uh be careful it-" he interrupted himself looking at how Skully was getting along so well with Nene,he thought it was really cute not only how his rough cat was acting lovely but how the princess played with it so cutely and lightly.
He touched his face, it was burning, 'was it that hot outside? I didn't even notice,wow she- uh no it is ...cute, I love Skully' he thought nervously
