Drums were played in the sky, bolts of lightning ran through the ominous clouds and the sea crashed against all it saw. A little boy sat below a palm, clutching the necklace that hung around his neck. He believed all would be fine. He believed he would soon go home.

Morning arrived soon, many shipwrecks were washed upon the shore and neglected by the waters that returned them, however, they certainly weren't ignored by a curious little intruder that craved adventure.

The little boy always had some exploring to do after a big storm, all sorts of things were provided by the sea.

He walked barefoot along the coastline in search of what he had not yet seen and came across a cave in the distance. This cave had always been there but this time it called out to him.

As if he had been enchanted he walked in a straight line towards the cave, disregarding all obstacles in his way.

He had walked on shards of glass and plank wood along the way without wincing  or avoiding them. When he finally came to his senses he was surrounded by a thick curtain of vines that seemed to welcome him and direct him along the right path.

If he didn't know any better he would have thought the island was alive. It could have been...

A blinding light emerged from the darkness and revealed the most magical cave. All was calm. The silence was only penetrated by the sound of water hitting against the rocks.

The walls of the cave glistened although there was no sun and the water that had formed a pool within the cave was crystal clear.

The little boy was overwhelmed by the heavenly sight. It felt like home. Suddenly a creature emerged from the water. He was paralyzed with fear as he witnessed a girl emerge from the pool. Unfortunately, his shock did not end there. Along with the girl followed a tail covered in deep green scales that seemed to light up the dark.

Though he was afraid he did not feel threatened by the creature and instead inched closer to it in an attempt to examine it.

With no warning, the strange girl abruptly took hold of something hidden by the depths of the water and lunged it at the boy which caused it to get wedged in a crack of the cave after missing her head by an inch.

With a heavy sigh the strange girl fainted.

Still shaken with terror the boy took a glance at the most preposterous murder weapon he had ever seen and then back to the girl who lay on the cold rocks of the cave in pain.

He walked toward the girl and saw her wound, instinctively he took out the piece of plank wood that had pierced her skin and cleaned the wound with the salt water provided by the crystal clear pool.

After all the chaotic and peculiar incidents had died down he took a proper look at the girl. She had brown hair adorned by the waves, eyelashes that grew towards the ever burning sun and her most prominent feature- her tail, which was green, scaled, strange, yet oddly beautiful.

Although, the strange girl had been rude to him, the boy still decided to stay with her until she woke up.

After a few moments the eyes of the girl fluttered open, she took a look around the cave with a distant expression on her face.

It didn't seem as if she was lost, instead she looked rather annoyed. She then turned her attention to the boy who was busy trying to pry her large dinner fork out of the crack of the cave.

"What are you doing?" The strange girl said in a calm voice.

"Oh," he said sheepishly. "You're awake."

"I asked you a question child."

He turned to the girl with his arms crossed and his cheeks puffed to express his annoyance, "I am trying to get your thingie out of the hole and for your information I am not a child."

The girl chuckled.

"Why are you laughing!?"

"You are a cute little creature with legs that's why I am laughing, all the other ones I've seen above the waters are large, scruffy and scary."

"If you thought I was cute why did you throw your fork at me?"

"My fork?"

"This thingie." He gestured at the golden dinner fork that pierced through the rock of the cave.

"I threw it at you?"

"Umm...yeah."

She smiled. "Sorry, I wasn't in my senses."

"T-that's okay, how is your arm? You seemed to be in a lot of pain earlier."

She looked back at her arm only to notice it had been treated.

"Thank you for treating my arm, I owe you my life from today onwards."

" No thank you, it was just a minor injury, I only took the wood out."

"What is your name little creature with legs?"

"Zachary, you can call me Zach. What is your name?"

"Erica."
