I finally got the energy to finish the chapter! Also at the end tell me if your team Emery or team Zach. I'm curious.
"You have legs?! You used the trident to give you legs!" Erica was shocked to say the least upon seeing Emery as a human. She had no idea what power the trident truly possessed, that is why she had attempted to steal it away that faithful evening and created a terrible storm which wiped out thousands; including herself until she was found by an unsuspecting human that fell victim to that storm- Zachary.
She was so lost in marvelling at the fact he had legs that it almost escaped her mind that he was completely naked. "Umm...do you mind?" She blushed not knowing where to look.
"Not at all, feast your eyes all you want." He sneered sarcastically.
Emery was indeed the most handsome merman Erica had ever laid eyes on. His ethereal presence never failed to make her speechless. Unfortunately, he was not the one she wished to marry, she couldn't handle the weight of being queen.
So the human laying unconscious on the shore was her only hope of getting exiled as marrying a human was the only way Emery would ever let her go.
"Can I have legs too? Please Emery!" She forgot herself, her position, her status and resorted to whining at the thought of having legs.
"If you behave sure." He shrugged before the realisation hit him. "Since when do you call me by name?" His eyes narrowed in displeasure.
"Since I want legs." She rolled her eyes tired of his arrogance and evil demeanor. Emery could kill a whole fleet of sailors if only they provoked him by throwing their nets above his palace. Erica never understood his need to be so barbaric.
Emery got out of the pool without paying attention to whatever Erica was complaining about. He stood on the slippery ledge and held his hand out to her.
She took his hand and yelped when he abruptly pulled her out of the pool in one swift movement.
"Where did you hide the boy?" Emery asked while surveying the area of the cave.
"Behind the vines." Erica pointed to the curtain of vines on his left. He nodded before heading right out onto the island.
"THAT'S NOT WERE I POINTED!" Erica shouted out to him, frustrated as his figure retreated.
"I'm going to find clothes. You're the only shameless person who enjoys my naked appearance." He retorted nonchalantly.
Zach will die at this rate! Erica waited patiently, scrutinizing Emery's behaviour every second. It didn't take long before he returned to the cave wearing pants yet nothing else.
"Where did you get that garment in the first place?"
He smiled at her for the first time; it was a lazy smile which brightened up the dreary cave. He never admitted it but he enjoyed making her angry. "I've drowned a lot of people."
"Good for you, your highness." She blabbed forgetting she needed his help.
"I think I need to replace your tutor. You have not learnt the mannerisms of a monarch at all in three years." He looked like he was actually contemplating it. At this point Erica thought he was wasting time on purpose so that Zach would actually die.
"Are you stalling?" Erica asked in offense scoffing as she said it.
"Is it that obvious?" He licked his lower lip while staring at her blankly. He sighed when she only looked at him with a glare. "Fine. Bite my finger." He brought his finger to her lips yet she only looked at his face beneath furrowed brows.
