The winter season being on its ultimate stage. A pile of snow seen anywhere the eye of one lands on. Although, even with the pile of snow being everywhere along with the intense temperature in Italy, the people of Volterra seems to enjoy it.
The children of the people of Volterra are seen playing in the snow along with their friends and siblings, some were inside their houses enjoying the time spent with their families.
It's the time of the year where the birth of the twins are celebrated.
Around the halls of Volterra castle. a lady in white runs towards the throne room.
"Aro! Happy birthday to us!" Raven yelled, jumping up and down while running in circles.
Amused by his twin's ecstatic behavior, Aro couldn't help but to smile seeing her so happy.
"My, my. Someone's excited."
"How can I not? We finally get to spend our birthday together again!" The girl exclaimed, pulling her twin into the halls of Volterra castle, running.
Aro laughed seeing the childish behavior his twin has shown. 'How I wish you stay like this forever.'
Whilst running through the hall, talking about Aro's past issues with the vegan vampire clan and how a member created a half vampire and half human child.
"A half breed? I must say, I'm not really surprised." Raven stated.
Aro hummed,"How so?"
"Everything is possible nowadays, Aro. And, that child is a possibility." The girl shrugged.
Aro nodded in understanding as what his twin said is quite true.
"This generation is getting unexpected." He stated.
This time, Raven nodded back in agreement. There isn't a day where mankind discovers new things. They either create advanced technology or discovers something they shouldn't.
As they continue walking, Raven suddenly asked the lad besides her.
"What if Suplicia was human while you're a still vampire and you found out about the half breed child.. Would the two of you do the same?" Raven asked, staring ahead while Aro stopped walking and stared at her.
Noticing her twin stopped walking she also stopped, still staring ahead of them, her eyes deep in thoughts.
"What if vampires can give birth in the first place?.. Maybe, by then, you could've accomplished your dream. To create a family, have children of your own." She whispered.
With Aro's heightened senses, he heard her whispers. He kept himself quiet, still staring at her.
Even if he was a sadistic bastard, he always yearned to create a family with Suplicia. To have the castle not only have the presence of grown-ups, but also have the presence of children running around the halls, giggling and fooling around.
He always wanted to be a father, but knowing that vampires can't create such blessings, he became a father to the young vampire twins, Jane and Alec, that he saw as another version of him and his twin.
Aro shook his head, "That would only be a dream, Raven. Vampires like us are no longer living, we're dead. We will have no blood in our systems unless we fed on those who does. We don't need to breathe the air around us as it would just be useless to us. Our eyes are no longer the same color as we had when we were human."
Raven was quiet.
Meanwhile, Aro continued, "We are monsters, Raven. We are cursed creations."
Raven turned her head towards her shoulder, staring at the paintings framed on the wall.
"Such a bittersweet truth.. " She smiled, "The paintings look nice, don't they?"
Her smile held no emotions. There wasn't any joy, nor sadness. No anger. Just plain nothing.
That left Aro confused, not once in his life had he seen her be so.. Nothing. She looked so plain, dull. She looked lifeless, as lifeless as she really is.
"Rav-.." Aro was cut by a guard.
"There's another problem with the Cullen clan." The guard informed.
Immediately, Aro's worried face turned into rage.
He quickly followed the guard towards the throne room to discuss what had happened from the past few hours he wasn't present.
He unknowingly left the girl behind, not even turning around to say his goodbyes. Clearly, he forgot about her presence.
"I forgot that so many things have changed over the years I were gone." Raven chuckled.
She stared at the paintings once again, "Not even the paint on the framed portraits stays the same. The colors fades as time passes by, what more with people.."
Unexpectedly, a blizzard of snow came. The girl continued walking through the halls, alone. Staring at the window, seeing the harsh white snow terrorize Volterra was somehow calming to her.
Having the clouds cry out with her alone, gave her comfort. The cold temperature reached her pale skin, making her feel another wave of comfort.
Raven went to the library as she and Aro had planned before to celebrate their birthday alone reading books, tales, myths, and catch up with each other for the years they've been apart. A hobby the two shared ever since they were little.
She grabbed a book to distract herself while waiting for her twin.
She waited.
Seconds turned into minutes, and minutes turned into hours. She still kept waiting for him. He wouldn't ever miss out on their birthday, it was a day they treasured most.
She stared at the door of the library, still left unopened, untouched. Her gaze turned to the window, it was dark outside. And once more, her gaze turned to the clock on the wall. It was an hour past midnight.
"That stated it. Happy birthday to us, brother."
She closed the book and put it back where she took it. And thus, she left the library. Walking in towards her room, she closed the door and locked it.
She sat on the couch in front of the fireplace, staring into the fire as she laid her head on the head of the couch.
"What an utter bittersweet truth, indeed." She chuckled.
