Today was the day I'd be surprising my girlfriend. It's her 150th appearance for Everton but I told her I couldn't make it to the game due to a meeting I had for work and due to us being long distance she believed it. I started getting ready as yesterday I drove up and stayed at a hotel so I would be closer today and it wouldn't take that long to get there.
Once I was ready I got into my car and sent a good luck message
Megs❤️
Good luck today I know you'll smash it and I'm so proud of you. Xx Love you xx
I drove towards Walton Hall Park Stadium as it was a home match today against Leicester City. And once I pulled into the car park I checked the starting line up and saw she was starting which made me smile knowing she'd be happy about that. As I headed inside to get a programme I saw a little girl with her dad wearing the Everton Pink away kit with Finnigan on the back. A smile plastered my face just to know the impact she has on young people nowadays and how incredible she is.
I decided as kick off was in 10 minutes I'd head towards my seat and as I sat down I heard
"You alright mate I thought you weren't coming" It was Gabby George Megan's best friend.
"Yeah I decided to surprise her" I replied.
"Awww that's so cute"
And with that the teams started walking out it was a sold out Walton Park so the crowd was loud cheering them out. Megan wasn't looking my way but was more looking forward very focused as she starts getting ready in her position. It then got announced that she was celebrating her 150th appearance today the longest serving player for the club. I've never been so proud of her.
And with that the final whistle is blown the toffees have taken the three points with a last minute goal from a free kick from Hanna Bennison. They started doing the walk round the stadium and signing shirts and taking pictures and by the time they got to the family and friends section there was only a couple of people left so I headed towards the barricade and lent against it waiting for her to notice me. And not that long after she did, the way her face lit up when she saw me made me so happy as she wrapped her arms around my neck and hugged me tight scared that if she let go I wouldn't be here.
"You liar you said you couldn't make it today" She says with the biggest smile on her face.
"I knew how important today is for you I wasn't going to miss it for the world."
She then lead in and put her hands on my cheeks whilst kissing me with the biggest and happiest grin.

meganfinnigan A really special achievement for me last night to have made my 150th appearance for this football club. When I joined at 9 years of age, quiet as a mouse, I could only dream of making so many appearances by the time I'm 24. Thank you for all the support.
