The government had been hoarding information for weeks, trying desperately to keep it from the media. But it was inevitable, an accident like this made for a great story and it spread like wildfire. They attempted to calm everyone down, stop the worlds panic. To stop the people from knowing anymore. However there desperate attempts were almost always unsuccessful, and the fact that they were killing to stop the spread of information simply caused even more panic.
