It was a cold night, the debate club was packed as ever, except for the absence of the president and the girl I admired and looked up to, Monika. Seeing her for some reason boosted my confidence and I didn't think I could be confident without her here.
Then the Vice president Raiden walked to Monika's stand and smirked.
R: Welcome to the debate club everybody, I know I'm not your usual host for the evening but, as you may have noticed, she has decided to turn her back on us as a club, so now as the former vice, I take control of the club. So things are gonna be different around here. First of all, any mention of Ms. Monika Nicolaides-Hana will result in an instant expulsion from the club. Second, I am the ultimate authority figure here, and if you want to leave, take it up with me. Finally, failure to listen to me will result in an instant expulsion too. Do I make myself clear?
Everyone nodded, but my anxiety was through the roof. My confidence was taking a plummet.
R: So what shall we debate today? The problems with this school today. That sounds like a perfect idea that the old pres would have avoided like the plague. Who wants to start. How about you Lykan?
Me? He wants me to speak now that my confidence is gone.
R: You're usually very talkative in these meetings, is there a reason for your silence.
L: N-No, I'm fine. Don't worry...
R: Then I will start the debate, and you can present your side of the argument.
Raiden was putting a lot of pressure on me and everything seemed to be getting blurry.
R: My first argument is that this school allows just about anybody to start clubs for things people aren't even interested in, and for people to lead multiple clubs at once, it allows people to feel like they have a certain superiority over everyone else. Especially a former debate club president that led this club while leading her own club for months without telling anybody, before she finally left.
I knew he was talking about Monika, and I knew she wouldn't betray someone and manipulate anyone, she's not like that, right?
L: Wh-While I can agree w-with you, anyone b-b-being able to make a club allows for more....
I couldn't do this, my ears were filled with a constant ringing and I felt everyone's eyes on me. I just shut down and ran out of the clubroom without saying another word.
I was having a panic attack and I hated it because usually in school I was so outgoing. It really pissed me off. And I knew Raiden was sat with a smug look on his face. I was pacing around a hallway, eyes widened and I was sweating profusely.
That's when a purple haired girl saw me. That purple haired girl being my sister Yuri.
Y: Lykan?
I panicked at the sight of her, I didn't want her to see me like this and worry about me. Panic attacks were normal for me at home, but at school something bad must have happened.
Y: Oh Lykan, come here.
She pulled me into a hug.
Y: Another panic attack. Its okay, everything's fine.
She caressed my back. My older sisters embrace felt so comforting and helped to soothe my anxiety.
L: I don't know what happened, its just, I was doing a debate and then, I can't really remember how it happened. This has never happened in school, what's wrong with me sis?
Y: Nothing is wrong with you Lykan. You have anxiety, most teenagers get it.
L: But I never have panic attacks in school. I don't know why it's happened like this. It's just, Raiden, he's so, he put me under so much pressure, and I can't, and...
She silenced me.
Y: Don't worry yourself with those things. I know Raiden. He's not the nicest person anyway. Come take a walk with me to clear your head.
We spoke about my problems as we walked through the school. I enjoyed the time I spent with my sister. Ever since mum and dad died, she was all I had left, so I cherished every moment I could spend with her.
Y: I actually wanted to bring you somewhere I know you'll be accepted, it may help with you're ongoing anxiety because there's someone in there I know loves to help people. Now follow me.
She led me up another flight of stairs and we walked down a corridor.
Y: It's actually a place I've been going to help with my own mental stability because you know I'm not exactly the most stable since mum and dad's death, but this has helped me. So I feel it may help you too. Because I want the best for you Lykan.
L: Thanks sis.
She finally came to a stop outside one of the unused classrooms.
Y: Here we are.
She gestured for me to go inside.
Y: Go on.
I opened the door and walked into the room...
