The meadow is quiet. The only sound being a nice, June breeze, rustling the leaves of the trees on the edge of the meadow. I open my eyes with a jump, breathing heavily.
Did I pass out? What am I doing here? Where is "here"? I slowly push myself up until I'm standing. As I get a good look around, I realise that everything is brighter than it should be. Strange... Though I'm not sure what to make of it. I reach up to rub the back of my neck out of habit when I realise something. The side of my hand isn't resting against my shoulder. I feel that area and notice that there is a big hole where my shoulder should meet my neck. The only problem about this fact is that....
I'm not worried about it.
There is no pain. I don't even feel bad about it. I look at my hands, and see little dots. As I focus, the "light" darkens and I see that there is blood covering my hands. My hands are also of a greyish tint. Again, this does not worry me. I look around and notice a town about 150 yards away. Thus, like any able-minded person who woke up in the middle of nowhere, I start walking towards it.

About halfway from reaching the town from the meadow, I started having flashbacks, and remembering things. I know the year is 2005. It is some time in June. The first outbreak of the Omega-Virus, or OmaV (ōmâv) for short, happened last year around spring time. It was supposed to be a biological weapon against terrorism in the Middle East. But some fool scientist got infected, became Patient Zero, and now all this has happened. A zombie apocalypse.
And I'm one of them.
