There was a few moments of silence where Maya just stared. I wasn't sure how to take it. Is this a good thing? Or is she mad? If she's mad, Dad is dead.
Then relief filled her eyes and she shook her head slowly, blonde curls bouncing. "Why couldn't you have just told me?"
"I...huh?" My eyes widened. "You don't hate me?"
"No, why would I?" She laughed softly. God, I love that laugh. "I...I always had a crush on you, too. I was just afraid." She smiled up at Dad. "And Mr. Matthews did something right for once."
"Thanks, Maya..." He started, then dropped his smile. "Wait, for once?"
Maya smirked and I giggled.
"Yeah." I confirmed. "She's right."
"Hmph." He crossed his arms. "You're just on her side because you love her."
"Hey!" I screeched. "Not true!"
I leapt onto his shoulders and put my hands over his eyes. He staggered around helplessly as Maya bashed him with the lesson plan she still had.
"Hey Maya?" I asked as I held tightly onto my dad with my arms and legs.
"Yeah, Riles?" She asked, whacking harder and harder.
"Does this mean we're dating?" I asked, losing my grip.
"I guess. Is that okay with you? And your dad?" She replied, panting from following my staggering dad around the room while hitting him.
"Yes!" I screeched.
"You're good, Maya." My dad added.
"Yay!" I cheered.
"You two are what?"
I did fall off now, crumpling to the floor helplessly. Maya dropped the lesson plan and my dad righted himself. We all turned to where the voice had come from.
Farkle.
"Hey Farkle!" I waved nervously, Maya pulling me off the floor by my right hand.
"Yo." Maya greeted him, trying to be cool, but the redness of her face betrayed her.
"What did I just hear?" He stepped into the room, his face plastered with curiosity.
No one answered. We all just stared at him, scared.
"How much did you hear?" Maya finally spoke, pushing her hands in her pockets in a last-ditch attempt to be a commanding presence. It wasn't working.
"Enough to know that you two..." He paused purely for dramatic effect, grinning like a madman, which he was. "Are..." He drummed his fingers on Dad's desk, his smile getting impossibly wide. "Dating!" He finished, his grin at an all-time high.
Maya and I paled. Farkle was a man of many secrets, which he held safe, but he couldn't keep other people's very well.
"Uh..." I was going to try to lie, but you can't lie to Farkle. "Yes. You're right." I sighed.
"Did you two think I'd care?" He smiled knowingly. "I don't care. Your secret is safe with me." He made a 'zip it, lock it, throw away the key' motion and returned to his madman grin.
Maya let out a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness you aren't being weird about it."
She spoke too soon.
"Now kiss!" Farkle screamed, biting his lip and still grinning, waiting.
"Uh...I...I don't..." I stammered, biting the inside of my cheek.
"Do it or I tell the school." He demanded, leaning back and crossing his scrawny arms.
"Fine." Maya grumbled. "But leave."
"I know the janitor! I can access the school cameras!" Farkle called as he left the room and pushed Dad out in front of him.
"They're making us, aren't they?" I asked, and right on cue, the lock clicked in both doors.
"Yep." Maya agreed, laughing softly.
"Uh, so...let's. Just...yeah:" I stammered, moving closer to her.
She moved closer as well, then her hands found my hips. I draped my arms around her neck and pulled her closer, and then our lips were together, and I let all the pent-up emotion I'd kept hidden for into the kiss.
It would've lasted forever, and I wanted it to, but we were startled by the bell ringing. I jumped and Maya and my foreheads crashed together. I stepped back, rubbing my head. We'd both forgotten we were in school.
I took my seat, as did Maya, and the doors unlocked and the class flooded in. My face was deep red, and so was Maya's, but no one seemed to take note of it.
Dad moved to the front of the class, a goofy grin glued to his face. "I was going to teach about love causing wars today..." He began. "But I have reason to change it. This morning, I witnessed something that gave me an idea for a new lesson. I want you to confess your love to someone you e had a crush on. Now, or in the past. I guarantee something good will come out of it."
Everyone went to someone else, usually two people to each other, and confessed.
Everyone...
Except Farkle and Lucas.
"What are you two losers doing in your seats?" Maya asked, amused.
"Farkle loves the ladies, but not individually." Farkle answered simply, no emotion visible on his face.
Lucas shrugged. "This is nice and all, but I'm too embarrassed to tell them. Why aren't you two up?"
I glanced at Maya. "We already confessed."
I looked back at Farkle, and noticed him looking to the left. And if he's taught me anything, it's that looking to the left was a sign of lying.
Farkle was hiding something.
Something big.
~
We all know what he's hiding. And who Lucas's crush is.
Because this is a Rilaya fanfiction. And you can't have a good one without a certain side ship *wink wink*
And also, Farkle doesn't love the ladies, that liar!
PEACE!
