In the Field

I woke up and did my morning ritual yet again, but this time I was called up by Khan to go out into the field since it was a weekday. He wanted me to try my dispenser on some of the drones with [FATAL ERROR] still on their faces to see if I could bring them back and what would happen. I grabbed my things and went to leave, and I thought I spied Doll watching me walk towards the doors.

Khan: Good luck out there.

Y/N: Listen, if I can't get 'em working with my regular dispenser, I will try my wrench, and if that don't work, I'll create a new dispenser for drones specifically that will dispense oil.

Khan: Thank you very much Y/N.

Y/N: Don't thank me until this here job has been finished.

I walked past Khan and he let me outside the doors, until I got outside. I began to walk straight, hoping to find sight of a fatal error drone. I walked for a fair amount of time until I saw a good amount of drone corpses in what looked like a spire. I began to set up my dispenser and while it was emerging, I grabbed a fatal error drone and took it towards it. I finished off upgrading the dispenser and took 10 paces away, which caused it to begin to heal the fatal error drone. It managed to heal the steel, but the fatal error remained. I tried fixing it with my wrench and scrap, which seemed to make it better on the outside, but not on the inside.

I grabbed its head and popped off the top of it, to see if I could work with its internal parts. I reckoned I could do it, but it would take days to complete just 5 of them. I knew I would have to create something of an anti-sapper to fix it. That's when I heard a whooshing noise and felt a presence behind me.

???: Hi, you seem to be human! Were you sent by the company? I'm so excited! My serial designation is N, but you can call me N.

Y/N: Well howdy N, I'm Y/N L/N. I was living on this here planet before the core exploded. I only survived because my family was very paranoid, bought a fancy bunker, and had me sleep there the night it happened.

N: Aw, that sounds really sad. I'm sorry that happened to you Mr. Y/N. If you come with me, we can keep you safe since your family lived on this planet owned by JC Jenson.

Y/N: Who's we?

N: My disassembly drone coworkers and I!

Y/N: Well that's mighty kind of you N, sure, I want to find out more about the company, you, and your coworkers.

N: Alright, wrap your arms and legs around me so I can fly us in!

Y/N: If you say so pardner.

I did as N told me to and he flew me into what looked like a shitty escape pod.

Y/N: Is this how you got here? If so, I could fix this so it could fly again.

N: Yes, it is how we got here! I flew it!

Y/N: Did you know how to-

N: No, they didn't teach me how to land.

Y/N: Ah. Why do you hunt the worker drones, besides from pleasing the company?

N: We need to drink their oil, or we'll overheat and die.

Y/N: Do you mind if I try to use something on you and see if it gives you your fix of oil?

N: Sure! I love doing anything!

(This bot boy is too innocent to be so scary to the worker drones.)

I began to work on my dispenser after self-destructing the other one, and upgraded it to level 3 yet again.

Y/N: So, do you feel filled of oil?

N: No, not really, but it makes me feel like I won't overheat as long as I'm near it!
