Jay is a man of surprises.

He likes to hide little gifts around Nya, and is always delighted to see her reaction when she finds one.

So on a fine summer day, he spies her sitting outside on the steps of the Monastery, reading a book. There is a light breeze, the sun is shining high in the sky, and she is completely lost in the story.

A shadow passes over the pages and she looks up to see Jay smiling down at her.

He hands her a cup of boba tea. She eyes the drink skeptically, and sniffs it.

"It's not poisoned, or anything," he says, trying to hide the smile in his voice.

"I know, just making sure," she responds coyly.

She takes a sip and immediately recognizes the distinct mango flavor. It's her favorite boba tea.

"How did you--?" she starts to ask, but he interrupts her.

"I went back to the same store and got you another. I know you like your boba."

She takes another sip, savoring the sweet taste.

"I can't believe you remembered, I mean, I had just gotten the first one and it was like a week ago."

"I have an amazing memory, you know, especially for things related to you."

Jay sits down beside her and she leans into him, feeling a little awkward as heat rushes up the sides of her face, and not really knowing how to respond.

He is a man of surprises and it catches her off guard sometimes.

"I can't remember the last time someone brought me a drink," she says, thinking back to her childhood and teenage years. She was always so preoccupied with surviving and fighting that she never really noticed.

"Well, I would buy you drinks every day if it means seeing your smile," he says, nudging her playfully.

"Don't be such a sap."

"Sorry, I'm not sorry. That's how I roll."

"Yeah, well, it's pretty sappy."

"But, you love it," he says, taking a sip from his cup.

Nya turns to face him and is suddenly struck by how handsome he is, and how his eyes seem to dance in the sunlight.

"Yeah," she breathes, "I really do."

"Really?" His eyes widen.

She nods, "Really."

"Good," he smiles, "I'm glad."

A cool breeze swirls around them as they sit there, side by side, drinking their boba tea in silence.

Jay is a man of surprises, and she loves the way he catches her off guard.

The pair of ninja find themselves with some time alone, so they are on a date in Ninjago City.

The sun is setting, painting the sky in hues of purple and blue, and the streets are full of life as more shops open for the night market.

Nya is leaning against the railing, watching the boats sail by on the canal. Jay stands next to her, admiring the way the wind catches her hair and how the golden rays make her glow.

"Where do you want to go next? The food stands are all open now. Okonomiyaki? Red bean pancakes? Grilled squid?" He starts listing off all the different types of foods that are available at the market.
