AN: Who knew coming up with chapter names was hard? I know that now

The little creature said nothing, just moved. He thought it was odd that a creature was able to fly like that, it didn't seem to have the structure of a bird, nor an insect, he thought about how it could have come about as a living creature, was it born with the wings? Did they grow when they aged? Does it age? These questions flooded his head, but he made sure to be mindful of his step, not to break, or even touch, the crystals. As he walked, there were more, and there was less space to walk without stepping on one, he went as far as he could, before stopping in his tracks.

The little creature turned to him and said, "Why did you stop?"

"I am unable to move forward without disturbing the crystals, and I do not want to break any." He had answered honestly, he saw no point in lying. The small creature smiled and turned away, to continue moving.

"Follow and it will move." It said, he listened and it worked, as he moved, the cave adjusted the crystals to make room for him to step, moving back to where they were when he moved. He did not want to be in their way for too long so he sped up. Not too long after that, they came to an opening, full of treasures. Gold, jewels, anything of any value, it was there, but he paid no mind to it, only followed the creature.

They walked across the opening, to another tunnel full of more, larger crystals. The room behind them began to smell horrible, he turned for just a second, only to see things he never wanted to see again in his life. All the riches were gone, in their place were the bones and bodies of the fallen, some seemed to be preserved, like how you would preserve food in salt for the winter, and others had been left to rot, leaving torn clothes on bones. He kept walking, though there was now a knot in his stomach, he tried to ignore all the fear that was weighing on him, thinking, "You've come this far, you do not have to fear what is past, it is gone now." They kept going, and as they went, he thought about those he had left behind, worrying that if he didn't come back, they would be upset. He was determined to go back, but first, he was to help the creature.
