The comfort of the Lawrence manor and its owner is what you sought, but she and her abode seldom sought you. For you were only a stupendous pawn, easily replaceable in the Lawrence family's vast valleys of "soldiers."

When the wind whistled and blew against the sapphire shutters of the manor, when the cold wind slipped through the cracks of the door, and when the rain trickled down the smooth walls.

When you needed her the most, it was like she was never there.

Interlinked by a ridiculous marriage, some statuette of a wife, that's all you were to Eula Lawrence. You were nothing but another business deal, for she was her family's only daughter, her sole purpose was to be wed off to anyone her father pleased.

Despite knowing this fact, why do you try so hard?

You never knew what the smile on Eula Lawrence's face looked like. She was always so cold, so distant, so far away. However, you were a curious soul, you were also simple. All you wanted was to put a smile on Eula Lawrence.

It's simple isn't it?

---

"Hm," a hum escaped your 'beloved' wife's lips as she turned down the flowers that you picked for her.

"It was worth a shot..." you mumbled to yourself.

"Y/N?" She paused, "please don't bother me for the time being, you know I'm busy," her head dug into some paperwork as she stifled her scowl.

---

"Eula?" You called out, tiptoeing to her wing of the manor. The scent of the rain after it had settled filled the halls as you await for her answer. It had been some time since you offered her flowers, hopefully she'd be cooled off by then.

A small hum slipped through your lips as you pushed the door of the blue haired woman's bedroom. There, you await her by sitting atop her bed.

Some moments later you hear the squeak of a door and the sound of pitter patter adjacent from the ones outside.

"Eula?" You called.

No response.

You hear more strange scurrying noises and you start to freak out, "I'm starting to get scared—this isn't funny!" You panic, pushing yourself up to the headrest of her grand bed.

Another scurry and out pops a husky pup, "Oh my god!" You screamed from shock.

Moments later you hear a groan and the door to the bedroom open, "what is all this ruckus?"

It was Eula, standing in her home clothes while scratching her head, "come here duke" she called for the dog before sending him to bed.

---

The next day Eula was again buried in her books and you were sat watching her from afar.

"Why don't you ever smile?"

She stands from her work-desk, looking up then flat out ignoring you.

---

The rain had settled and the asters spun in the wind once again. Eula's arm was stiffened to her side as she walked in front of you, trying to avoid any contact what-so-ever.

You had urged her to hold your hand or at least link your arms together but alas, it was no luck. So there you walked, following her like some pathetic puppy-dog.

Was that what you were? Eula Lawrence's prized pet?

Every stall and store in town you went to she would tell you to wait, sit, behave, keep yourself busy, the list goes on and on and yet you still obeyed her.

God, you're not a pet. She treats her dog even better than she treats you.

---

The dandelions were ready to be wished upon this time of year. So here you were, sat in a field of dandelions, Eula, her dog duke, and a picnic blanket not far off from where you sat braiding together fresh, yellow, unripe dandelions; the stems of the plant dancing with your fingers gently as you weave them over each other.

Eula whipped a stick across the field for duke to catch, she seemed calm, serene. You come up to her, placing the dandelion crown on her head, the bright yellow contrasting the blue of her hair leaving a slight kiss of green where the yellow and blue meet. You didn't say a word after you placed it on her, you already knew what she was going to say, how she was going to act, what she was going to do.

With that thought, you return back to where you were sat on field, unbeknownst to the smile on Eula Lawrence's face.
