Chapter One:
Layla's POV:
'Attention passengers, we will shortly be landing, please fasten your seat belts.' The lady on the intercom said. I smiled, clipping in my seatbelt before leaning over and fastening my littler sisters. This is it, we were finally about to land in America! Excitement spread through my veins and I felt like a ten year old on Christmas Day.
My mum, dad, little sister Sophia and I were all going to be spending the next five weeks in America for the summer holidays. That means five weeks in the sun, sunbathing, shopping and lounging by the pool; it's going to be great!

The key clicked as the door to the villa we will be staying in for the next five weeks creaked open. A gasped escaped my lips as we looked around the villa. There was a living room/kitchen, three bedrooms and a bathroom - it was perfect.
“Okay, well Layla and Sophia, your bedrooms are down the hall, why don’t you go and unpack your stuff” Our dad suggested, pointing to two doors.
We agreed before dragging our suitcases towards to our bedrooms. After I unpacked my many clothes into the wardrobes and drawers, I picked out a bikini along with a pair of shorts and a top and got changed before slipping on some sandals and my sunglasses.
“Mum, Dad, I’m going out to see what’s around here!” I called out, walking towards the door. Before I had a chance to leave, Sophia came running down the hall.
“Can I come? Can I come?” She begged, I sighed slightly before nodding and asking my parents; in which they agreed.
Sophia quickly slipped on her cute little sandals before jumping up and dragging me out of the house. We walked down the steps leading to our villa and starting walking around the group of villas. In total there were probably around seventy villas in the same complex. There was one massive pool along with a smaller one for children. There was also a little play area which was full with children laughing and smiling.
We left the villa complex and crossed empty roads which lead us to a small corner shop. If we had continued walking down the long road, we would’ve been met with a big town, in which there were many shops and entertainment places such as a cinema, bowling alley and more.
Sophia and I entered the corner shop where I was immediately pulled towards the sweet section and immediately picked up a bag of Haribos; her favourite.
“Please can I get some, please?!” She asked, displaying her ‘puppy dog eyes’ that always won me over. I agreed and picked up a bottle of Sprite before walking over to the checkout and placing it on the counter.
The lady at the till smiled at us, picking up our items and scanning them before turning to me, “Can you please help me quickly? I need to take these boxes out to the back and they’re too heavy to carry by myself.” She asked, pointing towards two boxes filled with groceries, I assume.
“Of course, Sophia, stay there okay?” I said before going behind the till and helping the lady to shift the boxes. We went into the little store room and put the goods down. The lady, whose name was Claire then asked me if I could help her move around some items, in which I agreed.
After about five minutes, we exited the storage room, leading us to the shop again. Sophia wasn’t standing by the till where I had left her, so I figured she had gone to look round the shop a bit. Expecting to find her by the sweet and magazine section I went down that aisle. She wasn’t there.
“Sophia, I’m back, let’s go!” I called out. I walked down the next aisle. She wasn’t there. The next aisle. She wasn’t there. I walked all around the shop, she wasn’t there.
I ran out of the shop and looked around, unsure of which direction I should go in. I called out my little sister’s name before sprinting off down a random road.
I have been in America, California for two hours and have already lost my sister.
A/N: Helloo, this is a joint fanfic between me (Laura) and Lucie. We'll probably be writing a chapter each or something.
