October arrived, spreading a damp chill over the grounds and into the castle. Madam Pomfrey, the matron, was kept busy by a sudden spate of colds among the staff and students. Her Pepperup Potion worked instantly and since she acquired two assistants, Violet and Adrian, the easier potions and cases were handled by the two of them, so thanks to some added dried willow leaves to the potion, the hours of steam coming out of the patient's ears were reduced to mere minutes.
