It was Saturday morning and Maya woke up early and went to work.

Her friends stopped by the bakery she worked around 10 AM and ordered something.

They hung around the pickup counter as Maya made her drinks. She normally talked to her customers as she made the drinks seeing how close was to the pickup counter.

The moment that the manager came into the store, she stopped talking to her friends, knowing that she didn't like it too much if Maya talked to her friends while working.

It's the same way with the other employees. They talk to the customers, but the moment that their manager comes in, they gradually ease out of the conversation, not wanting to get into trouble with her.

Maya's friends knew the drill. They knew that the moment that the manager comes in, the conversation ends until she leaves this location.

Her manager checked on everything before leaving the store.

"When do you get off of work?" Ty asked.

"Um, my shift ends at noon," Maya informed him.

"When did you start your shift?" Ty asked.

"I started at seven-thirty."

Ty stared at her, horrified.

"You start that early on weekends?"

"Yeah," Maya nodded, placing a hot coffee on the pickup counter and calling the name on the cup.

"Damn," Ty said.

The person who ordered the drink came and Ty moved out of the way for the customer to pick up his drink.

"How do you do it?" Ty asked.

Maya shrugged. "I just want to get my shift over with in the morning so I have the rest of the day to myself."

"Did you ever consider doing something else?" Ty asked. "Like creating a YouTube channel."

"I'll need a bunch of subscribers before I start making money," Maya said as she made another drink.

"That's true," Ty acknowledged. "Don't you get like those sponsorships?"

"Yeah," Maya said, "but it takes a while before I get paid for it."

"Have you thought about what you're going to do in college?"

Maya had already been applying to colleges. She was planning on starting college as soon as she could.

"Um, I've been applying to colleges as a double major," Maya said as she set the drink she made.

She called out the name on the drink.

"Oh, damn, what were you thinking?" Ty asked.

"I was thinking of English Literature and Film and Television," Maya said.

"Hey," Chase said coming to the counter.

"Hey," Maya said. "I'll be back."

Ty and Chase began talking as Maya to get a croissant to heat it.

She rejoined the conversation when she placed the bag of the croissant on the pickup counter and called the name.

She continued to make drinks and heat up pastries as she talked to her friends.

When her shift finally ended, she went to the back, changed out of her work uniform, and met up with her friends.

"Wait, hold on," Maya said, "I'm gonna order a drink."

She meant to make herself a drink but it slipped her mind.

She went in line and placed an order. She left with her friends as soon as she got it.

They went to Ty's house to hang out there for a couple of hours before they headed to the movie theater.

They met up with Maddie, who was at the bakery earlier but had to leave for work-related things, at the movie theater.

Maya thought about what Ty told her the previous day when she went to work Sunday afternoon.

She spent the morning working on homework and checked her emails, had lunch then headed to work.

Maybe it would be a good idea to start a YouTube channel. She considered doing it during the summer, but it was a thought she pushed to the side. She convinced herself that she wouldn't have time since it was her senior year of high school and needed to take school more seriously.

Maybe... maybe it is a good idea to start a YouTube channel.

When her shift ended, she headed home.

Her parents were home.

Should she bring it up to them? No, wait. Think about it before bringing it up.

Maya greeted her parents and then went up to her bedroom.

She dropped her backpack in her room and went downstairs.

Her dad was making dinner and was nearly done.

Maya, Peter, and their mom set the table for dinner.

During dinner, Maya's parents asked her and Peter about their weekend.

Maya and Peter spent the entire weekend out of the house with their friends, so they didn't really see their parents that much throughout the weekend.

Maya and Peter told their parents about their weekend and what they did.

When did was over, Maya and Peter helped with cleaning up the table and washing the plates.

When they were done, Maya went up to her room to finish homework she didn't get to finish that morning.
