"Shushu, dear heart, come in," auntie Mei Jia exclaimed, beckoning him into the house.  She threw her arms around him, trapping him in a heartfelt embrace.  Behind, her, Wang Lusi patiently waited her turn, but smiled warmly at Wen.

"Yes, yes, come in.  Wen Kexing, welcome.  Please, our home is yours."  She grasped his hand and drew him into the pleasant living room.  "Here," she directed, "this chair is very comfortable."  She picked up a fluffy little dog, kissed him and set him aside.  "Sit, please.  Let me make you some tea.  Have you boys eaten?  Let us make you something delicious."  She laughed when Zhou's arms encircled her.

"We needed cheering up, so we came to take you out to eat," he interrupted her, holding an aunt in each arm.  "Have you had lunch yet?  No?  Good.  Let's go to the restaurant by the park and then walk in the gardens for a while."

"You don't have to..."  "We should cook for..."  they talked over each other, as they so often did.  He loved that.

"No, we insist.  We looked forward to coming to a place full of sunshine and clean air, with lots of people having fun.  So, put on your lipstick, grab your purses, and come with us.  Please," he cajoled.  They shared a smile and acquiesced.

"If you want to; give us five minutes," Mei Jia agreed.  They disappeared into the hall and returned within the time, ready for an adventure.  Shu held the dog and talked to him in a baby voice while they waited.

"This is PoPo," he introduced Xing.  "He's fifteen years old but still going strong.  You can pet him if you like."   Wen reached out a tentative finger, smiling when PoPo liked it with a gentle touch.

"Now you be a good boy," Shu directed, setting the furball on the floor.  With a sniff, the dog turned his tail and went to his bed in the corner.

As they walked to the car, Lusi leaned on Wen's arm and confided to him.

"Shushu often surprises us like this.  We love our little outings.  You never know with him, what he will think of next.  Such a fun person."  Wen grinned and assisted her into the car.  He skipped to sit next to his love.  The happy looks they exchanged did not go unnoticed by the doting ladies and they winked at each other.  Their beloved young man hadn't been this radiant ever.  Obviously, especially to them, he possessed a special friend, someone he cared about deeply.  And they cheered him on.
