(TW:// Lying and malicious intent - dunno if it's considered manipulation, but just keep in mind it might be.)
(Also this was kinda inspired by the fact that Argos intervened with Mr.Plant and Mr.Flower having a relationship.)
Argos hummed as he tended to his many flowers, a soft and content smile on his face. He then jumped slightly at the sudden harsh knocks on his front door, causing him to look over. He hesitated before setting down his little watering can, approaching the front door.
"Mr.Plant?" Argos asked cheerfully, his smile suddenly falling at the sight before him. Mr.Plant had multiple black tears streaming down his face, him rubbing his hands together roughly. He was soaked with rain water, a few drops of it falling from his petals. 'Can we talk?' He signed. 'Please?'. Argos quickly replied with "O–Of course– come in, it looks like it's going to rain." Mr.Plant allowed Argos to rush him inside, hugging himself as Argos shut the door behind him.
"Stay right here, I'll go get you a towel," Argos said quickly. Before Mr.Plant could protest, Argos ran off. Mr.Plant let out a sigh, wiping away his tears as he waited."Here you are," Argos said softly, handing the towel wrapped Mr.Plant a warm cup of tea as he sat next to him on the sofa. 'Thank you' Mr.Plant signed, Argos giving a nod as he watched Mr.Plant sip his drink. It helped the flower warm up after having been stuck in the rain. "Are...you okay?" Argo asked cautiously, tilting his head. Pr.Plant paused, slowly lowering his cup onto the coffee table. He inhaled softly before signing. 'Mr.Flower broke up with me.' Argos blinked. He had to refrain from smiling. At long last, his wishes came true. He was sick of waiting, having thought of soon resorting to violence to get the pair to split. Alas, he didn't have to put in any work to get what he wanted.
"Oh, I'm so sorry..," Argo said, placing a hand on his shoulder. He put on a fake look of sympathy, becoming alarmed at the sight of fresh black tears bubbling in Mr.Plant's eyes. 'He said he fell in love with someone else. He didn't love me anymore.' Argos' frown deepened. While he hated to see Mr.Plant cry, an evil thought stirred within his mind. He could either lie, or do what's right to comfort the one he loved. He shook his head slightly, deciding to do what he felt was right.
"You shouldn't cry over him," Argos said. "I heard rumors that he would cheat on his past relationships– I'm not so surprised he did." Mr.Plant looked down at Argos as his tears fell. "You shouldn't be crying over someone like him," Argos said with a soft smile, reaching up and using the pad of one of his thumbs to wipe away Mr.Plant's tears.
'When did you hear these rumors?' Mr.Plant asked. Argos felt guilty for lying to Mr.Plant, but he knew he had to. So they could be happy together. "A while before you started dating him," Argos started. "I wanted to tell you, but...you looked so happy with him." Argos looked up into Mr.Plant's eyes. "That and I always believe people can change. But, I guess not this time." Mr.Plant shakily sighed, wiping his eyes. He wasn't mad at Argos, understanding his reasoning. 'I wish it ended differently.' Argos frowned, thinking. "You deserve better," Argos said, Mr.Plant looking back at him. Argos flashed him a smile. "He didn't deserve you anyways."
'Thank you.' Mr.Plant signed. 'It means a lot'.
"Of course," Argos replied, his smile widening slightly. "You don't need to thank me, really."
