Chet gazed across the table, absent-mindedly doodling in his notebook as he listened to what the other was saying.

"I feel like writing a whole scene about that would be really impactful story-wise. It shows the audience the affects of what can happen when people are uneducated about this kinda thing." Kurin was saying.

The purple haired boy nodded, only half paying attention to the non-binary's words as the other half of him was trying to convince him to just lose himself in the other's sapphire eyes.
God, those eyes... They actually sparkled like the gem they matched the color of as their owner talked so passionately about the play they were supposed to be devising for drama class. Oh and that voice, the other's passion for their drama project was audible in every word. It reminded Chet of the start of the singing videos on Kurin's YouTube where they'd introduce themself and talk a little about the song before they sung it.
The enthusiasm over doing something they love. It made Chet's heart melt a little everytime.

A strand of stray hair fell into Kurin's face from where it had been sitting behind their ear, the music lover barely seemed to notice. Chet fought everything in him not to reach out and tuck that strand of hair back behind the other's ear.

Kurin was still talking but it was completely lost on Chet now, he was too busy thinking if it would be weird to tell them about the strand of hair.
Then suddenly Kurin pushed the strand back themself, their sapphire eyes focused directly on Chet and he snapped out of it.

"Huh?"

"Did you get all that?" Kurin asked, "I was probably rambling a little bit, so it's fine if you didn't."

Okay, Chet had no idea what had been said at all. It had nothing to do with Kurin's possible rambling though and he was not about to admit that he was too busy staring at them to listen...

"Yeah, I got it. It all sounded great!" He was only half lying, Kurin knew what they were doing, their ideas, whatever they were, were probably great.

The non-binary smiled directly at him, "Really? Okay then, I'll go ask the teacher if we can use songs as sound effects."

Chet nodded as Kurin stood up and walked away, a little too caught up with the voice inside his head screaming about how beautiful even that small smile was to actually answer verbally.

While Kurin talked to the teacher, Chet looked down at his notebook and oh.

Right in the top left hand corner of the page was a heart with both his and Kurin's names in it.

He stared down at the heart he'd drawn, red burning across his cheeks, before quickly scribbling it out.

Yeah, Chet had fallen way too hard..
