Stanley Yelnats certainly wasn't the type to throw a huge hangout or get together or big meetup of any sort.
And he DEFINITELY wasn't the type of boy to want to go places 24/7 and live for that "highschool party life" era that every adult seemed to drone on about.
Stanley Yelnats was the type of boy to sit in his room all day with soft music playing as he sits on the floor reading a book about something most would consider dorky, such as stars and constellations.
Stanley would much rather prefer THAT any day over hanging out with someone, especially a big group of someone's.
Except maybe one select person, Zero, but that didn't count, because Zero was his boyfriend, and you know how teen romance is.
Stanley still wasn't a people person, no matter who he had a massive crush on.
To which is why he questioned how he even agreed to go with D-tent to a huge arcade down his street.
Maybe it was the puppy eyes Zero made at him when he knocked on his door to tell him, as if he forgot Stanley had a phone.
In Zeros defense though, he rarely answered it because he always had his nose in a book.
Zero practically begged on his knees for the taller boy to come with, not that Zero was thrilled to jump in and hang out with D-tent after the train wreck that was Camp Greenlake.
Zero was just a huge nerd for games, and any mention of doing something video game wise, Zero 90% of the time would agree to do.
Unless it was let anyone win against him in a game that he stayed up learning how to play and learning to become what Stanley thought was the best player on Earth.
Hey, we all have our weird interests, Stanley always reminded himself when he started to question the boy on how far his love for video games had stretched.
Stanley didn't see the point in video games, really, but he wouldn't ever tell Zero that.
After what seemed like an unhealthy amount of pleading and begging, Stanley agreed.
Maybe he only agreed because he'd make Zero happy, or maybe it was because he genuinely wanted to see everyone again.
D-tent had exchanged numbers and often hung out, but Stanley declined pretty much all of those invitations, purely because he was terrified of what they'd think of him.
Of what they'd think when they saw him and Zero, holding hands, cuddling, kissing, doing things a normal teen boy with hormones...usually wouldn't do to another boy.
He could bet just by the fact that they were in Texas, that they'd be homophobic or possibly commit a hate crime against them.
(okay, maybe only one of them would hate crime them, and that was Zigzag)
Nonetheless, Stanley agreed to go.
Stanley started off by dragging Zero inside, directly up to his room, and venting his fears to his confused boyfriend.
"I mean, what if we slip up and I accidentally do something gay?" Stanley tossed a dirty shirt across his room as he fumbled through his closet.
"What if I have gay thoughts about kissing you and one of them is secretly a mind reader?!" Stanley whipped around to face Zero, who seemed like he barely managed to conceal a laugh.
"You have gay thoughts about kissing me?" He managed to choke out around his toothy grin.
"Uh...more than the normal amount..?" Stanley defended, sitting on the edge of his messy bed with the shorter boy.
