*Tristan*
"Happy Birthday!" Cameron cries out happily as soon as I opened the door to let him in.
I couldn't help smiling in the embarrassment of being treated like I mattered to everyone. He slams me with a hug causing all the bags he held in his arms to crush against us. Something sharp pokes me right in the chest.
Pushing him off me, I wince rubbing the spot. "What do you have in there?" I scoff, shutting the door behind him.
Walking away into the dinning room he says, "Party supplies!" He drops everything on the table and turns to me with a huge grin on his face. "We're going to decorate this place up and have the best birthday party ever."
Happiness overflows within me to see all the excitement he was sharing. He starts pulling things out as he talks a mile a minute. Apparently, he called a catering business in town, as well as a local band that he had been friends with for years, to play some music.
"I also got that cousin of yours to get outdoor decorations too." He mumbles, as if he didn't want to say that out loud.
My eyebrows raise at that confession. "Sia? Since when did the two of you talk?" I ask as I pull out rolls of streamers the color of white, black, and gold.
He hesitated with a scowl on his face. "We don't talk. But I discovered that we live in the same neighborhood. I ignore him most of the time, but I figured since he's your cousin, he should be a part of this grand occasion too. I volunteered him to help out."
I was so shocked that I didn't know what else to say. I look down at all the things he brought and emotions slam through me that he was going all out for something so simple as my birthday. Tears well up in my eyes that I couldn't help but wipe them away before they fell. It didn't go unnoticed.
Cameron stops what he's doing and stares at me for a few moments. Titling his head, curiosity enters his eyes. "Something's different about you."
That got me to snap my head up and give my full attention. "What do you mean?"
"Besides this making you emotional, which I completely understand, but there's something else that's making you glow. I'm just not sure on what it is."
Heat engulfs my entire body wondering if he could sense the change my body went through as me and Axel were marked.
His eyes widen as my silence grew. "Something did happen. What is it? You have to tell me! Best friends don't keep secrets from each other, Tristan!" He accused, leaning forward across the table giving me his entire attention.
Clearing my throat, I smile. "Axel and I..."
He waves his hand impatiently. "Yes, yes, I knew it was about him. Go on."
Releasing a loud, huge sigh I decided to show him than to tell him. So I turn around, pulling my shirt down my neck to reveal the mark. As soon as I did that, he gasps dramatically and practically rips my shirt down even further to get a better look.
"No fucking way! Are you serious right now?! You guys are marked?!" He yelled.
"It just sort of happened. Neither of us knew what was happening and it burned horribly." I admitted, getting away from his hands that threatened to loosen the neck part of my clothing and practically choking me to death.
He stares at me completely wide eyed. "I've never seen a marked person before." He whispers. "I honestly didn't believe it was real."
I shrug, feeling a little nervous now. "I guess it is."
