A V A
As I stepped off the plane in Italy, a mix of emotions swirled inside me like a vortex. The warm Italian sun enveloped me, transporting me back to my childhood. Memories of exploring the cobblestone streets, playing in the piazzas, and laughing with my family flooded my mind.
I hailed a taxi and gave the driver my address, watching as the cityscape gave way to the rolling hills and vineyards of the countryside. The taxi wound its way up the driveway to my family's villa, and I felt a sense of unease creeping in.
Something felt off. Inside the house, the air was heavy with tension, and the shadows seemed to writhe like living things. I moved to the living room, and my heart sank. My parents knelt on the floor, surrounded by men in black, their faces twisted in fear.
A surge of anger and fear coursed through my veins. "Who the hell are you?" I spat, my voice trembling with rage. My eyes locked onto the man sitting on the couch, his piercing blue eyes fixed intently on me.
Nice Welcome.
He was a study in contrasts - chiseled features, an air of confidence, and a presence that seemed to command the room. Yet, there was something dark and foreboding about him, something that made my skin crawl.
The man's expression remained inscrutable, his eyes never leaving mine. My parents' eyes widened in shock as they saw me standing there, their faces pale with fear. "Ava, go upstairs!" my mother cried, her voice trembling.
My father's eyes were wild with panic. "Yes, Ava Go!" But I stood my ground, my eyes locked on the man. I wasn't going anywhere until I knew what was going on.
The man's gaze held me captive, his eyes seeming to bore into my soul. I felt a shiver run down my spine, but I refused to look away.
"I think you know why I'm here," he said finally, his voice low and smooth, like dark honey dripping from a spoon.
The sound sent a shiver down my spine, and I felt goosebumps rise on my skin. There was something heavy and dark about his voice, something that seemed to vibrate with menace.
I raised an eyebrow, my anger simmering just below the surface. "No, I don't," I spat. The man's lips curled into a smirk, his eyes glinting with amusement.
"Your parents owe me a considerable amount of money," he said, his voice dripping with an undercurrent of threat. "A debt that is now overdue."
I felt a surge of denial, my mind refusing to accept what I was hearing.
Loan.Them.But Why?
"That's not true," I said, turning to my parents. "Tell me it's not true." My mom's eyes welled up with tears, and she nodded miserably.
"Ava, I'm so sorry... we didn't mean to..." My dad's face was pale, but he tried to maintain a calm demeanor. "Ava, go to your room," he said, his voice firm but laced with a hint of fear.
Why they had taken the loan? Why!I need to know the reason.
But before I could respond, the man spoke up, his voice smooth and menacing. "Oh, I don't think that's necessary, Mr. Harrison," he said. "Let's just say... the fun is about to begin."
"I'm afraid your parents have no choice," he again spoke, his voice low and husky. "But you... you have a choice. Come with me, and I'll make sure your parents are safe."
I felt a surge of fear, but also a spark of determination. I knew I had to protect my family, no matter the cost.
But going with him?
Never.
