The murkiness above and below the monorail was haunting. It was as if it was attempting to pull Ben into it's terrifying abyss. A mix of Dimorphodons and Pteranodons swoop down, tugging at Ben and trying to drag him into the suffocating darkness.
Darius' hand clung desperately onto Bens as he tried to pull him up. For some reason, the others were just standing around with worried expressions on their faces, not doing anything. Darius was frustrated at this fact, but it only made him more determined to save the other boy from being dragged into the abyss to become dinosaur food.
Ben repeated Darius' name a couple times, calling out desperately for him, needing his help. Darius' gaze was filled with fear and sadness as he looked down at the boy who was crying and begging for help.
"Please, Please, Darius, don't let go!" He whined.
The small ankylosaurus nearby let out a sad groan as it watched it's best friend dangle from the monorail, crying out as pterosaurs dived near Ben. They occasionally banged into the glass of the transport that the campers had once believed was safe. Fearing it's best friends death, the dinosaur ran forward, trying to get to Ben. Ben glanced over to Bumpy for a brief moment before focusing his gaze back to Darius, inhaling and exhaling sharply as he gripped onto him with all his might.
Darius tried to push the ankylosaurus away with his foot so that he had more room to pull Ben up and Sammy ran forward. Darius sighed with slight relief, thinking that she was going to help him lift Ben up, but instead she just pulled Bumpy away. He groaned audibly and leaned further down to Ben, reaching for his other arm.
Ben's gaze flicked from Darius to the others, wondering why they weren't helping. He didn't want to be killed, he wanted to live, he wanted to go home, they were so close. He was hyperventilating and he could barely breathe, it felt like his heart was going to jump out of his chest. He tried to swing his other arm up to Darius so he was able to be pulled back into the monorail, but he was unable to due to his lack of strength; considering he hadn't eaten a decent amount of food in a while and he was in an extremely petrifying situation.
Blood trickled down Bens torso as the open wound bled furiously. He had received this wound from the pterosaur when he was first knocked from the futuristic train. The reptile had dug its claws into the wound and pulled flesh along with it as it dropped Ben onto the side of the monorail, the removal of the flesh revealing one of his ribs. The injury stung, the wind that was blowing into it as the monorail raced down the tracks made it worse. Ben stopped reaching for Darius with his free hand and instead held his side, tears spilling from his eyes as pain and fear struck through him simultaneously.A cold sweat formed on Darius' forehead as he reached for Ben, his heart pounding in his chest as he desperately tried to pull him up, occasionally glancing back at the others and glaring at them since they weren't helping. They only stared at him with horrified expressions.
He felt Ben's hand begin to slip from his own and both of them began to panic more than they already were. Ben repeated Darius' name once again, begging for help.
"Darius, Darius, Darius, please, please help me." Ben cried out. "I don't want to die!" His words made Darius' heart ache. At this point, he wasn't sure if he could save Ben. But he was still consistent with his effort, despite how sore his arm was getting and how scared he was.
Another Pterodactyl swooped down, latching itself onto Bens leg. The boy screamed out and tried to shake the flying reptile off of him. He eventually succeeded, but when the Pterodactyl tore away, it left a huge gash in Bens leg.
The other boys eyes widened as he saw the gash and the blood spilling out of it, down onto Bens socks and boots. The blood stained his white socks red, and he could hardly bare to look down. Ben kept his gaze locked on Darius, trying to ignore the pain of the stinging wounds. He attempted to reach for him once again, his hand covered in blood.
Their hands began to tear apart, leaving only their fingertips in contact before Ben finally slipped from Darius' grasp. Ben was sure that he was going to be sucked into the perilous, unilluminated jungle beneath them. The younger boy gasped and Ben screamed out. Darius lurched forward, gripping Bens bloody hand. He hated the thought of Bens blood being on his hands, but he couldn't let him go.
A sharp turn was looming in the distance as the monorail surged towards it. Darius audibly panicked by letting out a quiet scream as he leaned forward. Despite the petrifying circumstances, he was committed to having Ben safe in his arms before they arrived at that imminent corner.
Ben whimpered and cried out as pain shot through him, growing dizzy because of the amount of blood that he had lost. Darius fought desperately to pull Ben up, unfortunately unable to.
Another reptile dove dangerously close to Ben, slashing through his exposed wrist, damaging the Radial Artery, which began to spill blood quickly down his wrist.
They reached the corner quicker than Darius thought they would, and his hand slipped from Bens once again. He fell forward and grabbed Bens blood-covered wrist, except now, he himself, was dangling from the monorail as well. Darius was accidentally applying more pressure to the artery that had already been damaged in Bens wrist, causing it to bleed more. Ben looked up at him, aching terror in his eyes. He knew that he was most likely going to perish. There was no way that he could survive."Darius!" Brooklynn jumped forward, grabbing his forearm. The boys eyes widened as Brooklynn grabbed him and his brows knitted. He wondered why nobody else tried to help Ben. Kenji jumped forwards and helped Brooklynn hold onto the younger boy and tears of disbelief and fright filled Darius' dark eyes.
He looked down at Ben, who was looking up at him with a desperate expression. Darius struggled and lifted his arm up, pulling Ben up far enough to grab onto his waist. Ben then reached forward and gripped onto the side of the monorail, but... nobody grabbed him.
"Someone grab Ben for gods sake!" Darius yelled out. Kenji looked over at Ben and had a slightly disgusted expression on his face which made Darius' expression contorted with disbelief and slight remorse for the boy whom he had once considered his friend.
Ben was growing extremely dizzy, and he looked as if he was about to let go, he couldn't take it anymore, he was losing consciousness. Darius gripped onto Bens blue shirt, trying to haul him upwards into the monorail. He looked over at Sammy and Yaz expectantly. The two of them were just huddled in the corner hugging Bumpy; who was trying to pull away, cooing to Ben sadly. Yaz was most likely the second strongest there, but she wasn't helping out whatsoever.
One last Dimorphodon plunged down from the sky, snatching Ben by his shirt. The boy was unable to hold on any longer, and he was dragged off into the abyss, leaving his blood on the side of the monorail. Darius jerked slightly, trying to reach out for him, a look of disbelief on his face. Brooklynn and Kenji's grip loosened as they watched the other boy fall. However, when Darius jerked, they unwillingly, completely, let go of him. They gasped and Kenji tried reaching down for him, but he was already gone. He had disappeared into the abyss of unending darkness. He was caught by one of the Pterosaurs, it gnawed on his shoulder, leaving bloody bite marks before sinking it's claws into Darius' back and throwing him into the air as if he were some sort of chew toy. Darius screamed out from the immense pain and he saw Ben's limp body in the distance being thrown around by several Pterosaurs as they took turns digging their teeth into his skin, drawing blood with each bite and scratch.
Ben was now completely unconscious, but unfortunately still alive, feeling all the pain that his body was enduring. Darius' eyes were permeated with desperation as he tried to reach out for the older boy, tears streaming from down his face as he was thrown from reptile to reptile. His eyes were locked on Bens unconscious, bloody body, watching as his arms were being pulled apart as if it was some sort of dissection.
The two boys were being torn apart. Skin was pulled off their bones and blood poured from their major gashes and wounds. They both had hoped that it was a quick death, but it was much more excruciating than either of them wished it was.
Everything then went blurry for Darius, and he passed out, but his body was still being flung around. His white shirt was now extremely torn and stained red from blood. His flesh was chewed on my multiple Pterosaurs, but he was refused of the mercy of death.
The loud screeches of the satisfied flying reptiles filled the air as they threw their food around, each one of them sinking it's claws into whatever body part it could catch.
Bens demise was finally reached when one of the Pterodactyls caught him in a wrong position and caused his neck to snap forwards.
Blood dripped from Bens mouth and his body turned paler than ever. The rosiness in his cheeks had now completely diminished.
Darius continued to suffer for a while longer before his quietus was reached and he was given the mercy of death. This occurred when the Pterosaurs were unable to catch him and he fell into the ominous shadows, his back crashing against one of the tree branches and making a loud cracking sound.
He was dead before he even hit the ground.Surprise! I managed to publish this week!!
I'm literally insane and I was in extreme pain so I decided to make Ben and Darius feel extreme pain too, (I love being a writer)
Also I was going to write it a bit more gory but I decided against it because I felt like expelling all the food I had eaten in the past twelve hours just from the word 'flesh'. And I was extremely passionate about writing it at the start, but slowly lost confidence as I kept writing sooo... Sorry if it's not up to my usual standards.
