Victor arrives back at home, he looks around the house for Shyv and Boros. He sees Boros sitting at the table reading a book. Victor reads the title of the book from afar. Novice Ice Magic: Always Give a Cold Shoulder. Victor becomes visibly angry. His hands ball up into fists, his brow furrows, veins bulging from his arms. Boros notices his presence. "Hey dad, welcome back." He smiles back at his father, after putting a bookmark to keep his spot in his book. "What in the hell do you think you're reading?!" Victor shouts. "Oh, this?" Boros points at his book. "It's just a basic ice magic boo-" he's interrupted by his father grabbing the book. "Ice magic?! Why would you be trying to learn about ice magic?!" Victor continues shouting, growing more and more angry with each word.
"I'm not learning anything really, I've learned that a long time ago. A lot of proper mages should revisit the basics. It's important to-" he's interrupted once again. "Damnit Boros! Do you not understand that this magic is what we fought against so long ago?!" Victor seems like he's about to explode. His body is tight, his tone is nothing short of pure rage. "Yes dad... I know. But just imagine if you had this and other spells on your side. It could've been a much easier fight." Boros defends his craft while hoping to get through to his father. Victor continues, slightly more calm. "I haven't met a single magic that could stop my axe... not a single one. Why would I want something weaker than my axe on my side? Besides its time for you to choose your future. You've been putting it off for a decade now. How are you gonna provide for a family if you don't even know what to do?" As he finishes that sentence, Shyv walks through the door. She's covered in sweat and almost immediately notices her father's anger. "Hey... dad... what's going on?" She asks. Victor turns to face her, while Boros relaxes a bit. "Shyv, I was just telling Boros that it's time for you two to decide a future. You're 30 now. You're too old to be living with me and not contributing." He says calmly as he stares into her eyes. "I already know what I'm gonna do, dad... I'm going to be the strongest in the kingdom." she says with a big grin.
Victor seems to be angered again instantly. "You'll do what?! And how do you expect to become the strongest if you can't afford basic food? How do you expect to make any money just from being the strongest?!" He seems a little bit more relaxed as he continues. "Even the strongest have make weapons, join the military, or do something that provides for them." Both of his kids look down in shame. "You two have one week to decide. A week from now I want an answer." He begins to walk away, leaving them to think.
