Three Days (pt.1: ilcha)

A/N: story was started in mid September and I've decided I can't hold off to publish now that we have the actual date he's leaving...it will finish after he's enlisted)

"Hyung, you won't be out late! Just come for drinks, some of the producers I've been working with are meeting up. You'll like them."

Jungkook pouts and bats his long eyelashes at Yoongi, hoping to change his grumpy expression. He swivels in his studio chair, and leans back, stretching his stiff limbs in an attempt to stall his response. He doesn't want to disappoint Jungkook, he knows he's been trying to find time for them to spend together, before he leaves.

In the last few days he's been overly scheduled with all of the members trying to reach out, to spend time with him, or treat him to a meal, before he goes into the service. All he really wants to do is finish this song that's played through his dreams the last few nights. If he can get it done, before he has to leave, he thinks it might make him feel ready to go.

He should be ready. All Korean men have to prepare themselves for military enlistment, and for giving up part of their lives for 18 months, or close to 2 years, in order to serve their country. He'd always assumed he would be ready when the time came. He didn't object to the idea, and he'd made up his mind years ago that he would go when it was time. He considers it an honor. But the closer the time came, the more unsettled he began to feel, wondering if he really was ready, wondering if the songs in his head would wait for him.

He could keep notes and keep working on music in his spare time, but he won't be able to release the music, and for Yoongi, that was the only end to the process. Without being able to be published, the songs would haunt him and continue to demand all of his attention, until they were released, and then it's as if he opened the cage for the captive bird to fly free, and he could let go of the worry and the struggle of the creation. If he doesn't get to release them, are they really finished?

"Hyung, it would mean a lot to me."

Jungkook disturbs his thoughts, his pout growing more evident. Yoongi tilts his head up from his chair and glances at him. He looks so young still. He has time, more time left, time Yoongi doesn't have, to make more music. The music he's working on now with his new producing team 'CATCHA' sounds like Jungkook is ready to be a top solo artist. His style has grown up, and he took more risks while working outside of the usual team of producers.

He considers, for the first time, that this might be a good idea. It might be nice to spend some time with Jungkook, and meet his team. Maybe one of them has some ideas about his own song, something to help him finish it before...

He smirks a little, thinking of how easily he's swayed by the suggestion of spending one of his last nights drinking and talking about music. He nods, only once, but Jungkook has been staring at him, watching for just this sort of micro-agreement, and he claps his hands together as he cheers. His smile is contagious and Yoongi can't hide his own smile as he stands up to get his coat. Jungkook drops his hand onto his shoulder.

"I promise you will have fun!" he says, with a suddenly serious tone.

Yoongi smiles back at him meekly, hoping it can be true, and nods again. He leads them out of his studio high in the HYBE building, shutting off the lights as he closes the door behind them, but he knows that he might come back after their night out, and see if fresh eyes will help his progress on the track. Jungkook almost dances in the empty hallway, excited for the evening he had planned.

"Where are we meeting them?" Yoongi asks, hoping food will be involved somehow.

"Le Chamber," he says as he jumps up to try to touch a decorative object hanging from the ceiling. Yoongi stops and stares at him, surprised, at the height of the object, and the idea that Jungkook might actually be able to reach it. He frowns at the mention of the bar.
