Shortly after Travis finished his bottle, Bryan sat him in the playpen, picking up Daniel as Lacy picked up Owen.
"We'll be right back, bubba." Bryan said, walking upstairs with Lacy and the other boys.
Travis sat quietly, picking up a few blocks and stacking them together. He abandoned that game very quickly in favor of cuddling with his teddy bear.
Bryan and Lacy came back after a few minutes, and Bryan picked Travis up. He carried him to the couch and cradled him.
"Since you slept for so long this morning, you're gonna stay up for a bit while the other babies nap. This way you can have some one on one time with mama and papa." He said.
Travis sighed past his pacifier and leaned his head on Bryan's chest, closing his eyes. He wasn't in the mood to do anything.
"Bubba, you need to be awake for a bit. You can go to sleep after your nighttime bottle." Bryan said. Travis didn't open his eyes, stubbornly continuing to rest.
"Bryan, let him rest his eyes. Little babies do need a lot of sleep." Lacy said gently. Bryan looked down at Travis quietly.
"You're right. I guess I can stay up with him tonight if he has trouble sleeping." Bryan replied. He held Travis to his shoulder and patted his back.
The babies got to play a while as Bryan and lacy madd dinner, keeping an eye on them from the kitchen.
Owen sat between travis and Daniel as they put together a baby puzzle, putting the wrong pieces in several spots, but having fun anyway.
Bryan walked in and picked up daniel, sitting him in the high chair. He grabbed some food for him and started to feed him. Lacy walked into the living room and picked up Owen, carrying him to the couch.
Travis waited patiently until Bryan was done feeding Daniel. He brought the older boy back into the living room and sat him in the playpen, picking up Travis.
He sat next to lacy and fed Travis his bottle. Travis snuggled close to bryan. Something about being held like this was very soothing, and even though he wanted to be treated as an adult, he wasn't gonna complain about being comforted.
After the boys were done with their bottles, Bryan and lacy burped them. Lacy went upstairs with Owen, humming.
"I think we need to get some things for you while you're in a younger headspace, kiddo. Can't have my little baby mess with something that he's too young for." Bryan said softly, bouncing Travis gently. He sat him in the playpen with Daniel and went to clean up.
Travis was getting very sleepy. He looked out the window and saw that it was getting dark. He looked into the kitchen where Bryan was, wiping the counted off. The older man turned and smiled, walking into the living room.
"I think it's time for night night, don't you?" He cooed, scooping up Travis. "I'll be back in a couple minutes, Danny." He said carrying Travis up to his nursery. He laid him on the changing table and pressed down on the front of his diaper.
He expected Travis to start fussing, but he stayed calm. Bryan checked the back of his diaper and clucked his tongue.
"How long have you been holding it, bubba? If you don't use your diaper, you'll get sick." Bryan tutted. He dressed Travis in a clean onesie and picked him up, laying him down in his crib. He put a pacifier in his mouth and went downstairs to get Daniel.
Travis closed his eyes and drifted off.
Travis woke up not long after, maybe an hour after he went to sleep. He had to go to the bathroom. Maybe if he snuck out of his crib and tip toed down the hall, he could use the toilet.
He stood up and used the crib bars for support, trying to swing a leg over the side. The harsh movement upset his bladder, and he wet himself.
Travis began to cry. He was so mad at himself. He hated the situation he was in.
The nursery door opened and Bryan walked in, going right to Travis's crib.
"What's the matter, bubba? Why are you so upset?" He cooed, picking Travis up. He thought it strange that Travis was already standing, but didn't mind that much.
Travis couldn't say anything. He just cried behind his pacifier, wanting to get out of the wet diaper quickly.
Bryan laid him down on the changing table and rolled his onesie up to his tummy. He removed the wet diaper and wiped Travis clean with baby wipes, sprinkling him with baby powder.
Travis had stopped crying and was sucking his pacifier as Bryan taped a clean diaper around his waist. He left the room to wash his hands and returned, snapping Travis's onesie closed. He picked him up and kissed his forehead, rubbing his back.
He tried putting Travis back in his crib, but the smaller boy whined. It was clear that he didn't want to be alone.
"Why don't we go sit in the rocking chair for a while?" Bryan said. He walked over to the chair and sat, holding Travis close. "I think it would help you to spent a few nights in mama and papa's room. You might feel safer." He cooed.
Travis closed his eyes, slumped against Bryan's chest, listening to his heart beating.
When Bryan was sure Travis was asleep, he stood up and put him in his crib, turning on the monitor and mobile. He left quietly, closing the door.
