The Steep Climb

Chapter 1:

Levy huffed at the jobs posted on the wall. Two weeks earlier, Natsu and Lucy had been standing where she currently stared, picking out a job that would send them to Mt. Hakobe. It was a simple job, they were just gathering some on-demand resources, which was far too easy to take 14 days.

Normally Levy wouldn't be too worried, she'd go off with Team Shadow Gear and watch Jet screw up one of their jobs like just another day. But she was too impatient and excited to fail a mission. Lucy had finally finished her book! With the promise of the long-awaited novel, Levy simply couldn't stand the wait.

Gajeel, who was taking big swigs of beer on the other side of their table glanced over at her.

"What's wrong Shrimp?"

Levy had grown used to his nickname for her and barely noticed it anymore.

"Natsu-san and Lu-chan have been gone for two weeks." Levy huffed again. "Im getting worried."

"Salamander probably screwed something up again." Gajeel said matter of factly, before adding his trademark "Gihi"

Levy rolled her eyes, Gajeel and Natsu were always at each others throats. Even when one wasn't there, the other would insult and heckle at any chance they got.

"I don't think it is." Levy said, "Lu-chan promised I could read her book when she got back, and shes as excited as I am."

Gajeel though had stopped paying attention and had started humming the newest song he had created. He drained his mug and slammed it on the table before calling over Mira to pour some more.

"It just doesn't make sense." Levy muttered.

"What doesn't?" Mira tilted her head with the smile she used so often in her modelling jobs.

"Salamander and that Lucy girl's slow asses haven't come back to the guild in two weeks." Gajeel was back to listening.

Mira's smile started looking alot more forced. "I did notice the guild was alot more peaceful, and since Gray is off on a date with Juvia for the next couple of days, it doesn't even feel like Fairy Tail right now."

Levy's face turned a light shade of red. "So they're together now."

Mira grinned and leaned down near Levys ear. "Since Natsu and Lucy are away, you and Gajeel are gonna be next." She whispered.

Levy's blush became even brighter. She regretted telling Mirajane anything. She turned away from Mira's giggling and looked at Gajeel.

"We should go find them." She told him.

Gajeel looked at her like she was mentally unstable. "Why would I help Salamander? Hes a pain in the ass."

Levy persisted, she couldn't leave Gajeel with Mira while she was gone. Mira would almost definitely tell the iron dragon slayer what Levy had told her. And that couldn't happen.

Levy put on her sweetest fake smiles. "Please Gajeel! I'll be your bunny girl at your next show."

Bribery seemed to be working, so Levy stepped it up a notch.

"Besides, you'll be the first to laugh at Natsu-san after seeing him mess up."

Levy grinned, she knew she had him now.

"Lily's out of town visiting those other cats. I guess I could come along, Gihi."

She totally had him.

"Its settled then. We'll leave tomorrow." She stated proudly. She never got to go on decent jobs without knowing Jet and Droy would screw it up.

Gajeel jumped out of his chair and immediately caused a fight throughout the whole guild.

Mira smiled at Levy again and turned around. "5 points Team Gajevy." She said while she walked towards the counter.

Hallooooo!! So this is my first fanfiction so gomen if it sucked. If it didn't, pleeease hit like. Sorry the first chapter is a bit short, ill try and make the next one longer. And don't worry, Ill add lots of ship moments!
