Even in the God Realm boredom is inevitable.
You turn onto your side for the third time, closing your eyes, but sleep doesn't come. It's easy to imagine why; you are wide awake, having slept the majority of the day to quell your boredom. And now that you are awake, there isn't an excuse to remain in bed anymore.
Stretching your aching body, you toss your legs over the side of the bed and stand. You aren't sure what to do with your time, but anything is better than this.
Once you're dressed in one of your new outfits, you leave the room and head to the main hall to see what Buddha is up to, but unfortunately, he isn't there. Neither is Jataka for that matter, which doesn't surprise you; he likes to explore given the chance. You sigh in frustration, opting whether or not to return to your room, but you suddenly remember the cord around your ankles.
Following it, you are led to the village outside the temple. Near the bank of the nearby stream, you find Buddha resting on his side facing the water, but upon your approach, he peers over his shoulder and smiles.
"So you're awake now."
"I've been awake," you state, sitting beside him. "It's a shame that it's such a pretty day and yet I feel so bored."
Buddha snorts.
"I can tell."
Can he? It's good to know that the tether works both ways, but it doesn't seem to affect him as much as you. It's strange, but not unexplainable considering who Buddha is. His peaceful nature overpowers yours, and though it's not a bad feeling - quite the opposite - you find it overwhelming in the sense that you feel insignificant.
Would he assure you that you aren't if you were to tell him?
"Is that why you're out here?" You ask, curious. Your previous thought goes out the window.
"It's a pretty day, as you said," Buddha answers. "Is there something you want to do? You can explore as you wish."
You hum. Honestly, you aren't sure. Buddha had given you free rein of the realm, but you always felt more comfortable by his side.
"Can we do something together?"
Buddha sits up and grins.
"What did you have in mind?"
Your face heats up in embarrassment. Even though this realm is associated with him, he doesn't seem to mind giving you the choice. It's considerate of him. You glance around the village attempting to come up with an idea, but you aren't sure. It really is a gorgeous day; too gorgeous to waste indoors.
"How do you feel about going for a swim?" You ask.
"The water in the stream is as cold as ice," Buddha points out.
He's right. You hum in thought, remembering your trip to the ghostland.
"What about the Human Realm beach, since we're linked? I mean... If you want to. I can always think of something else for us to do."
Buddha stands, then offers his hand to you.
"If you want to go, then I'll take you."
You grab his hand and smile, thankful.
It takes less time for you to prepare than Buddha, considering you don't have the swimwear to change into. You opt for your modern outfit since you don't mind getting it wet, then you wait for him in the main hall.
When he arrives you are in shock, not by the amount of snacks in his hands, but by the way he's dressed, wearing a pair of modern swim trunks you didn't know he owned and nothing else.
