Nick never knew when he fell asleep dreaming about Venice and Lorelai's teary eyes. Nick would get up soon when the announcement for the airplane's landing will be heard. He dreamt of beautiful waterways and marvellous food. He saw a blue eye staring at him through his own nerves. It was almost like they were right behind him. He wouldn't remember all this. He had skipped the meal on the plane because he was full from the Pizza he had eaten before he fell asleep.

The announcement rang through the plane and people who were sleeping started to wake up. Nick woke up abruptly as reality hit him that he was on a plane to Venice. And his flight was about to land in five minutes. He took off his neck pillow and eye mask and looked around. The lights were on now. There were two women talking fast in Italian. Nick understood a quarter of it.

He asked one of them for water. By the time he drank some of it, his flight began to land. He closed his eyes and braced himself for the biggest adventure of his life. He knew what was going to happen when he turns his phone on. There would be calls from his parents. Thousands of birthday wishes on his Instagram. His sister's numerous texts about what to do and how to do that. The flight landed smoothly at the Marco Polo Airport.

As Nick got out of the plane he saw a scene he will never forget. It was a sky unlike anything he had seen in New York. It was very purple and lilac. It was impossible but it was glittering and shimmering with soft stars barely surfacing now. It was around half past seven in the evening. It looked like someone has painted the sky with the lavenders.

He went to the airport and claimed his bags at the baggage claim. Thankfully, they weren't lost. The plan was that he would take the the ferry to his hotel Palazzo Canova. He turned his phone on and as he predicted, there were numerous calls and texts. He texted Lor.

Hey I have landed safely, going to the hotel now. Will call asap!

He put his phone in the pocket and as discussed he knew there were ticket dispensers near the baggage claim itself. He opened his google maps to check the way and discovered something else entirely. He saw that the time taken from the ferry was four times than the taxi. He asked an officer there where he could get a taxi. He told him that he could get them right at the exit.

He exited the Marco Polo Airport and checked his phone. Lor had replied.

Good, call mom whenever you can, take care XO!

He kept walking further as he saw a bunch of taxis lined up. Because of the high number of travellers in Venice, the drivers knew a good enough level of English. As he was walking towards the taxi he saw a guy in a taxi right ahead of him. He looked familiar. He was wearing a plain black T shirt. Nick could only see his back but an ominous thought hit him. What if this was the same guy from the airport earlier.

But then he thought about the odds of it. They seemed thinner than thin. It is highly impossible that the one guy Nick wanted to avoid so much ended up in the same place as him. If it was true, it was beyond spooky. He got into his taxi and told the driver the name of his hotel. It was one of the most famous ones so he didn't need to tell him any more than that.

He opened his phone and called his mother. Karen Darling would have been worried, angry, and disappointed in her nearly perfect son. She picked up in two rings. But she didn't speak first.

Hi mom, I'm sure Lor would have told you where I am.

Yes she has Nick but I am very very disappointed in your behaviour and frankly me and your father never saw this coming from you. What was going in your stupid head that you decided to go to a foreign country by yourself and that too without even bothering to tell us.
