He was sitting on the subway on his way to Seoul, fiddling with his fingers out of pure nerves and anxiety. The boy had just run away from home after getting a full-ride scholarship to his dream school, despite it being 2 years before he needed to even consider universities. He was just naturally gifted in a way that was incomprehensible to many. Once Yeosang had gotten that email saying he could go to said university, he didn't even hesitate to pack his few items of clothing and equipment, most of which had been taken by his parents, and get right out of the hellhole he once dared to call home. That leads us to where we are right now: Yeosang is currently sitting on the subway, going from his hometown of Pohang to the capital, Seoul. For anyone, this journey would be demanding, but Yeosang was a just-turned 16-year-old with crippling social anxiety and wasn't on his adhd medication, so to him, this was a next-level experience. The subway came to a halt outside of 'Seoul National University." The words written in bold on the building sent waves of excitement through his body. However, all the young boy knew was where his apartment was; he didn't even know who he was rooming with. However, the school made sure to put him with 'responsible students, as he was only 16. The young boy slowly walked across the twisting paths, looking up in pure awe at the tall buildings and skyscrapers of Seoul. He never saw this in Pohang; on the odd occasion he was allowed to leave his house, all he saw was either mountains or the ocean. He soon spotted the apartment building and saw a kind-looking pair standing in front of it, looking as if they were waiting for someone. Once they made eye contact, the taller one of the two's faces lit up in recognition.
"Hi! You must be Yeosang, right? I'm Seonghwa, and this is Hongjoong! OMG, you're so cute and tiny!" He said it in a slight rush, particularly at the end, clearly not having expected Yeosang to look like he did. Yeosang smiled shyly, not enjoying the height difference all that much.
"Yes, I'm Yeosang. Thank you for letting me stay with you," he said with his adorable lisp and innocent puppy-like eyes. Seonghwa practically melted on the spot as Hongjoong smiled fondly.
"So Yeosang, how about you come inside and we'll show you your room? We've cleaned it up for you and bought you all the necessities you'll need!" Hongjoong says it as if he's talking to a child, which he basically is. Yeosang nods and bows slightly as he follows Hongjoong and Seonghwa up to their apartment. As they're waiting for the unreasonably slow elevator, Seonghwa decides to, yet again, strike up a conversation.
"So Yeosang, what are you here to study? We haven't heard much about you," he chuckles.
"Oh, uhm.. I'm studying astrophysics and dance." Yeosang mutters, slightly sceptical, as his parents usually berate him for choosing such subjects.
"oh wow! You must be really smart! Well, I knew you were to some extent because you're only sixteen, but you've got a physics degree on top of that!" Seonghwa exclaims, already feeling his motherly instincts kick in.
"We have plenty of friends you can get to know in the dance course as well! It's popular among our group!" Hongjoong joins. Yeosang nods shyly as he hears the ding for the elevator. His small steps almost fail to keep up with Hongjoong and Seonghwa, but he manages somehow. Next thing he knows, he's standing outside the door while Hongjoong fumbles with the keycard.Once the door is open, Yeosang almost gawks at how beautifully it's decorated; it's modern yet cosy, and Yeosang starts questioning how they have even managed to get such an environment in a university dorm. He stood at the doorframe, wide-eyed, a little too long as he heard Hongjoong and Seonghwa slightly giggling at him (not in a mean way, of course).
"Come on in, Yeosang, don't be so shy!" Hongjoong chuckles, and Yeosang follows them into 'his room' and is yet again shocked at the spaciousness. At his home in Pohang, his bedroom was merely the size of a small bathroom, so having a full-sized bedroom AND a joint bathroom nearly brought tears to his eyes. He softly placed his bag onto the bed and laid on it, practically melting as it felt like he'd just fallen on a cloud."Right, Yeosang, it's getting late. I suggest you go to sleep in order to be well rested for your first day back tomorrow!" Hongjoong directs, much like his parents used to, back when they all got along.
"Well, we'll be downstairs if you need us," Seonghwa says, slightly realising Yeosang's dampened mood.
He looked at the time on his phone, realising it was surprisingly late, despite doing nothing all day other than travelling. He got dressed into his amazingly soft teddy bear pyjamas and walked to the living room to bid Seonghwa and Hongjoong goodnight.
"Goodnight, Seonghwa Hyung and Hongjoong Hyung; I'm going to sleep now," he quietly informed.
"Ah, goodnight, Yeo! I hope you sleep well, and breakfast will be ready for you in the morning, so don't sleep in too late!" Seonghwa said with a look akin to fondness that Yeosang couldn't quite decipher. He hastily trudged to his new room, completely exhausted from all his interactions today, despite only having met two people. He almost immediately fell into the arms of Morpheus.
