Anevay - 12 years
The life of a ruler was never an easy one. I often heard it said that it was a lonely one.
I found, however, that it was only as lonely as you allowed it to be.
I, for one, never felt lonely.
I was surrounded by men who loved me.
Eventually, they started to give me babies to love as well.
We never kept track of who fathered who. It would have been impossible. But, eventually, there were sons and daughters with light blue eyes like Riven, and dark blue like Tolliver, and green like Casimir.
They grew up with Tolliver as their official father and Cass and Riven as their very close uncles.
Eventually, when they were old enough, we planned to tell them all the truth.
Until then, it was the happiest sort of family any of us could have hoped for.
Through all the ups and downs of life and ruling a kingdom, they all stayed constant. As did the love we shared, love that only managed to grow over the years.
Casimir was still kind and attentive.
Riven was still fiercely protective.
And Tolliver still challenged me.
Being queen was nothing like I had imagined it might be.
It was so, so much better.
All thanks to the men who loved me. And who I loved more than I ever could have expected.
