His appearance is perfect. His intelligence is perfect. He relies on nobody but his own head. Ivan is everyone's favorite. But in reality he is a pure psychopath. He likes to manipulate people and have the upper control. He always knows how to pick people. Charlotte was his chosen one. Everything about Charlotte is predictable. Everything she does never harm him in any way. All her life, all she'd gotten from men was all kinds of abuse and isolation. She'd never experienced real affection. Ivan knew of this and took advantage of it. He became the first person to lend her a hand. Ivan is always out running errands, smuggling drugs and dealing with transactions. He lived in a flat outskirt of the city, a notorious base where most criminals resided. When he reached back to his flat, the first thing that came to his sight is Charlotte. She was sleeping with her long legs dangling over the edge of the couch. As always, she slept without any blanket covering her bare legs. His careless footsteps had somehow awoken her from her afternoon nap. She sat up, rubbing her drowsy eyes. He came to her, pulling her into his arms. This gesture alone caught her off guarded. It was her weakness. Everything he does has an effect on her. He held her for quite a long time, stroking her head with tenderness. He always treated her with such gentleness but it doesn't come genuinely. He always had ulterior motive. He always prioritized his matters above everything else.
"Charlotte, can you help me with a favor?" It was his signature line. Ivan works as a drug peddler for a wealthy club owner. Drugs are easy money. Moreover, Charlotte's pretty face was useful to him. She slept with a few of his regular customers which were his highest bidders. He would arrange for them to spend a night with her under his own terms. It was easy money.
Everytime he came to fetch her from the hotel room, Charlotte was always in a disheveled state. Her cheek was flushed and her breath was accelerating. It wasn't a new sight, but what bothered him was the look on her face. It was the first time she had that kind of expression. He could tell that she enjoyed sleeping with that man. He disliked seeing that look on her face. It trigerred an emotion he'd never felt before. She was sitting at the edge of the bed, wearing a mere bath robe. As soon as she saw him, she immediately ran into his arms. "Did I do well?" Charlotte asked in a small voice, peering up at his expression. Ivan held her against his chest while stroking the back of her head with mild affection. He wasn't a good person. He was the one who immersed her into all of this mess. Drugs, sex and night life. He used her body to lure customers to satisfy his insatiable greed for money and she took drugs to cope with all those unpleasant memories. Although things went the way he wanted it to be. He wasn't pleased with the look on her face when she just slept with his regular customer.
Ivan stared indifferently at her. He has to admit that Charlotte is beautiful. The kind of beauty that stops him at first glance. Her beauty is one of the reasons why she still has value to him. If she doesn't benefit him in any way, he would have already left her. He saw her as a pawn to be used for his convenience and thought of discarding her after she became of no use to him.
She looked up at him with those unreadable gaze, slowly leaning in and grazed his lips with hers, but he didn't give in. He only held her closer and gently stroked her head. He held her tightly as if she would broke down if he hadn't. She lifted up her gaze and stared at him with those eyes he knew too well. Eyes that never lie. Straightly bore into his. Those pure yet cunning eyes that he adored. She always looked at him that way. The same gaze which caught his attention for the first time.
He lacks empathy, always thinking about his own well-being.
