The sterile scent of antiseptic filled the air, mingling with the distant echoes of medical machinery as Amar Vidrohi sat quietly in the hospital room.

His gaze was fixed on the woman lying on the bed before him, Haseena Malik, the determined Station House Officer whose reputation for bravery and grit was as well-known as her trademark wit.

Today, she looked different vulnerable and peaceful her expression softened by the effects of the sedatives, her usual intensity replaced by a serene calm. It was a side of her he had never seen.

Amar’s heart twisted at the sight of her. The shadows of concern loomed large in his mind.

What had truly happened?

News of the fire at her police station had reached him like
a shockwave, stirring emotions he had long buried beneath layers of camaraderie
and professional respect.

Now, they surged within him, crashing against his resolve.

He reached out slowly, enveloping her delicate hand in his own, feeling the coolness of her skin against his warmth.

The moment was tender, fragile, and it spoke volumes in the silence between them.

“Aap ko koi idea nahi hai, Haseena,” he whispered softly, though she couldn’t hear him. “Hum kitne daar gaye the… Aaj pehli baar aisa laga jaise dil se kuch chorke jane wala tha..Ek ajeeb si feeling thi.. Jo hum ne kabhi experience nahi kiya tha... woh Feeling Aap ko khone ka tha...Par yeh feeling kis Liye aaya pata nahi... ” The weight of his unspoken emotions hung heavy in the air. He had never before acknowledged the bond they shared, but the fear of losing her made him confront what lay in the depths of his heart

Suddenly, he sensed a shift.

Haseena stirred, her brows furrowing slightly as she fought against the pull of sleep.

Gradually, her eyelids fluttered open, revealing those fierce eyes that once filled him with admiration and anxiety in equal measure.

“Mr. Vidrohi,” she murmured, her voice slightly slurred, “Aap yaha kya kar rahe hain? Aur hum kaha hain?”

“Relax, Haseena,” he replied, trying to sound reassuring despite his own tumultuous feelings. “Hum hospital mein hain. Aapko abhi rest ki zarurat hai.” He stood to call the doctor, instinctively aware that she wouldn’t want to hear any further details until she was fully coherent, but just as he began to turn, her grasp tightened around his hand.

“Hume pehle yeh bataiye ke… humare MPT members kahan hain?” Haseena’s voice held an edge of anxiety that made Amar’s chest constrict.

“They are also here,” he answered gently, observing the worry etched on her face. “Sab ek dam thik hain. Kisi ko serious injuries nahi hain.”

But Haseena's eyes narrowed as she took in his words. “Kya hua sab ko? Abhi sab kaise hai?” Her mind raced, scrambling to piece together fragments of information, the panic palpable.

Amar took a deep breath, steadying his nerves. “Aap shant ho jaiye. Itna serious nahi hai, Haseena. Just kuch chote bruises hain… aur weakness ki wajah se glucose drips diya ja raha hai.” The moment he finished, he noticed her expression falter.

“That’s it? Seriously, Mr. Amar? Chote bruises hain isliye aap hume shant rahne ke liye bol rahe hain?” Haseena’s voice rose slightly, an octave filled with palpable frustration. “Par jo smoke unhone consume kiya hai, uska kuch nahi… Waise aapko kya farak padta hai? Hum se ya humaari team se, woh kaise bhi rahe.”

“Maine Aisa Nahi Kaha ,” Amar interjected softly, though he felt a magnetic pull toward her fiery side. “Hume fadak padta hai. Maine sirf yeh kahan ki itna serious nahi hain jitna aap soch rahi hain. Aur... aapko doctor ne tension lene se mana kiya hai.” He noted how her brows knitted in concentration, trying to process his words.

As Haseena settled back into her pillow, the edges of concern softened, Amar felt a wave of relief wash over him.

“KS ab kaisi hain?” Haseena asked, her tone shifting from panic to concern for her team even in her weakened state.

“Thik hain. Aap ab rest kijiye. Main doctor ko bulake lata hoon,” he said, allowing a small smile to break through his worried demeanor.

“Waise hume hospital kisne admit kiya? Aur aap yaha kya kar rahe hain?” Haseena pressed, her gaze sharp and inquisitive.

Amar chuckled softly. “Aapko shayad firefighters ne yaha admit kiya. Main khabar sunke direct hospital aagaya. Hume headquarters se khabar mila tha ke aapke thane mein aag lagi hai.” He hesitated, the weight of unspoken truths hanging heavy.

He wouldn’t mention that he had been on the scene, that it was him who had risked everything to pull her out from the chaos.

As he stepped away, a rumble of uncertainty brewed within him. What would happen once she was fully aware?
