Celeste later found Caius sitting in the living room and glared down at him, one hand resting on her hip. "Caius, why did you teach me an insult in Italian? Was that just to make Aro upset with me? Did you think it was funny?"

He laughed when he saw annoyance on her face. "Yes, in fact, I did. Was he upset with you?"

"Actually not, once I informed him who my teacher was."

"I'm sorry, Celeste, I couldn't resist." Caius stood and hugged her with a kiss, and apologised once more.

"Well, I won't be taking any more Italian lessons with you." She turned from him, flipping her ponytail when she stalked off.

The blonde vampire smiled, watching his human mate leave. Now he would have to wait for Aro's censure for his little jest. Little did Caius know at the time, Aro had no plan to even confront him. The head of the Volturi leadership had other things on his mind.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

The three vampires and their human readied for tomorrow's boarding on the yacht. No one would need formal dress, and the sailing was only for three days and nights, so little preparation was needed.

Once she was done packing, Celeste left the bedroom dressed in the swim suit and cover-up Chelsea had helped her pick out, her long hair pulled up into a ponytail. She carried a canvas tote that held her sunglasses, a bottle of water, and some SPF lotion. She had just lain back on the lounger by the pool, putting on her sunglasses and closing her eyes to relax, when Aro came to sit beside his mate. "Cara, I feel I need to discuss with you something that is of a delicate nature."

Celeste turned her head to face Aro, but kept on the sunglasses. "What's that, my heart?" She was enjoying the sun and sea air too much to get serious with her vampire mate. She just wanted him to leave her in peace today. When he didn't reply right away, Celeste said, "Aro, if you have something to say, say it." She wanted to go back to enjoying the day's warmth and avoid any of his mind games.

Aro spoke, sounding solemn, "Now that we will soon have all bedded with you, I suppose I owe you the warning that some birth control would be necessary., at least until you've been changed. Years back, we discovered when a male vampire mates with a human female, it is possible she might become pregnant with the vampire's offspring."

She removed her sunglasses and stared at Aro in disbelief. "Is that even possible, and how? You have no blood in your veins, your internal organs remain in disuse your entire existence. Can you still produce sperm?"

"We don't know how it happens, but if it does, certain death would follow for the human mother. I could not bear losing you, cara. None of us could."

She sat upright. "Thank you for the heads up, Aro, but you have no need to worry. My doctor said I can't have children."

Aro placed a hand on her shoulder in a comforting manner. "Are you sure, Celeste?"

"Well, he told me that after he removed my child-bearing organs, so I assume he knew what he was talking about. I had stage one uterine cancer, so you see, you have no need to worry about me getting with child by you or Marcus or Caius." She smiled and kissed him for his concern, no matter it seemed a bit like shutting the barn door and all that. She wondered if Aro was disappointed. He had said death was the end result. Would it be worth the risk to their mate to try and have a child? And was there any way to protect the mother and keep her from dying?
