Shoko's POV
I slowly opened my eyes after a long, peaceful sleep and sat up. "Mmh..." I groan softly as I rub my eyes to get rid of the tiredness.
I really, really didn't want to wake up, but I had to. It's a sucky feeling for me to wake up when I had to.
I looked around my empty, clean room, along with my calendar that was torn off after April. That made me realize I was sleeping on the floor for an incredibly long time.
I took the blanket off me and stood up, rubbing my eyes once more.
"Shoko! Shoko!" My little sister Yuzuru yelled downstairs, calling for my name. "Morning, Yuzuru..." I said tiredly, walking toward the stairs and looking down at her. "You gotta hurry up, Shoko! It's breakfast time!" Yuzuru yells out to me once more before rushing toward the kitchen. She then alerts our mother that I was awake, which made me chuckle a bit since she looked so happy to see me awake.
I rushed down the stairs and headed toward the kitchen.
"Oh, Shoko, you're finally awake." My mom said, turning her head toward me as she smiled ever so kindly. "You were pretty hard to get up, so I asked your sister to wake you up for me. Sorry about that..." My mom lightly chuckles, then turns her head back to her cooking. "No, it's fine... I have school anyway, so it doesn't really matter." I wave my hand to gesture that it was okay before sitting down and taking a seat in the dining room.
My sister Yuzuru sits down as well, taking a seat next to me.
"Here's breakfast!" My mom alerts, putting breakfast on the plates before sitting down and putting stuff away.
"Thank you for the food." I say, clasping my hands together before grabbing chopsticks and taking a bite of the food.
Yuzuru starts eating as well, gobbling it all up like a beast who just got out of their cave.
"So, Sho..." My mom starts speaking, calling me by my nickname as she flips the bacons on the stove in the dining room. "Do you mind if I ask you something?" She asks, smiling a bit.
I look up at my mom as I chew my food with a confused but curious expression. "Sure... what is it?" I nod my head slightly, intently listening in to what she has to say. I hope it's nothing bad...
"Why would you want to kill yourself?" My mother asks, as she's still flipping the bacon with a little smile still frozen on her lips.
Wait... what? Why would she ask that? How did she find out?
I wondered with a surprised expression on my face. I didn't know she knew that I was trying to kill myself, and it was just scary for me at the moment.I hesitated to speak and respond to her question for a moment. "U-uh...well, you know... I was just going through a tough time, and there was just...a lot of crazy stuff at the moment... I don't know, I guess I-" I get interrupted when my mom stands up and slams her hands on the table with a spatula in her hand. "I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG! I KNEW IT! YOUR ROOM WAS SO CLEAN, YOUR PHONE WAS OUT OF SERVICE, AND EVEN THE CALENDAR ON YOUR WALL HAD PAGES TORN OFF AFTER APRIL...!" She pauses for a moment before speaking again. "I can't believe this..." She mumbles to herself sadly before taking out an envelope full of money inside it and grabbing a lighter and turning it on.
"Promise me you won't kill yourself, or I'll torch this!" She threatens me, which makes my eyes go wide in shock. My sister looked extremely frightened by this and probably wondered what was going on.
"Those 170,000,000 yen you earned will go to WASTE!" My mom yells at me once more.
"...Don't be stupid, mom..." I said softly, trying to calm both of us down. "CRAZY?! YOU WERE GONNA OFF YOURSELF!" She responds quickly at me.
I quickly stood up and moved around a bit. "O-Okay, okay! I'm sorry! I promise I won't do it again!" I raise my voice a bit, not really in a mad tone, but a surprised and sad one.
"WHAT WON'T YOU DO?! TELL ME!" My mom yells at me once more, her eyes welling up with tears.
I get down on the ground and bow. "I PROMISE I WON'T KILL MYSELF! REALLY, I PROMISE!" I yell back at my mother sadly.
My sister Yuzuru looked shocked and saddened by my words. I could tell she wanted to comfort me at the moment but didn't know how to. "Shoko..." She muttered sadly, feeling bad for me.
My mother smiles at me softly, tears still in her light blue eyes. "Good... Now why don't we -"
"Uh- MOM! THE MONEY!" I alert my mom, warning her about the money being on fire.
My mother looks at the money, immediately noticing that it's on fire.
She starts to panic and quickly throws it on the pan.
We start to try and wave the fire away.
The next day...
I woke up yet again to another sunny day and showered and dressed up for school. I waved goodbye to my sister and my mother before walking off outside and riding my bike to school.
As I was riding my bike to school, I was thinking about what happened yesterday with my mother when she knew I was trying to throw myself off a tall bridge. I never expected that to happen, to be honest.
But then again, I was kind of hoping she would ask that. I don't know why, I just hoped she would.
During school, I was heading into a sign language class because I was planning to find the boy I used to bully back in elementary school. His name was Shoya Ishida. Back then, I used to bully him relentlessly and never stopped, to the point where I made him transfer schools. I was a complete jerk, and I knew I needed to pay for my actions. So... I found myself all alone and pushed everyone away.
When I was heading into the sign language club, I abruptly stopped when I saw someone passing by. He looked so much like... Shoya... wait.. That is Shoya!
"Shoya!" I called out to him and immediately rushed over, placing a hand on his shoulder. He slowly looked at me with a fearful but confused look in his eyes behind his back.
To be continued...
(This was my first story! I'm sorry if this wasn't any good, I tried my best... Let me know if I should make another chapter! :D)
