Wings Of Darkness - Remastered

Chapter 1

I am Darkness.

I am Fire.

I am Death.

The mountain shook and groaned, severing in two with a deafening noise as darkness captured the sky. Fire and ash spat out from the ever growing split in the mountain and beneath the blaze, Wings of Darkness emerged like a hurricane, crumbling the mountain to dust.

Amidst the chaos, a little figure stared hopelessly at the ruin and destruction growing closer and closer.

'This was all avoidable. This was all escapable. This is my fault.'

The beast clawed its way out of the landscape, roaring violently. Death had come to all. And it was all her fault. She was soon swallowed by darkness, unable to escape.

Moonwatcher awoke with a start, lurching forward as if to grab at something that was not really there. And then, all remnants of last nights dreams vanished, and she found herself alone once again in the large, echoey space that she had been living in for months now. She breathed out slowly, momentarily calming the ever present storm in her mind.

This space, her 'room', resided within the rebuilt Nightwing Palace by the Sea. It was void of love, joy, peace and safety. What had undboutedly been a stunning residence ages ago had been rebuilt to be a central for war and destruction.

And Moon was dead-center in the middle of it.

Darkstalker resided over this section pf Pyrrhia with an iron fist, showing no mercy to those who dare oppose him. Though, joining his forces was hardly a peaceful choice either. Regardless of your stance with this dictator, death was in your near future.

Yet still, a few kingdoms stood against his ever developing madness. The Seawings, the Rainwings and the Icewings still fought brilliantly for their freedom, not sparing a moment to try and save what was most precious to them. Unfortunatley though, the death toll amongst the three free kingdoms had grown exponentially in recent days.

"Death is a way of life, for those whom I decide it is. Be grateful, little Moon, I have spared us from it. You and I shall rule this entire world." Darkstalker would tell her, a cruel and manipulative grin smeared across his ancient, scarred face. "You are truly safe in this place. This is your home."

Moon hated this place with every fragment of who she was. It was lifeless, the epitome of lonlienss, and true torture to be away from those she loved. She had not heard from her mother or friends for far too long, and she could only imagine what horrific fates they had met. Although she had pleaded with Darkstalker to spare the lives of her friends, Moon suspected she couldnt trust him when he calimed they would be safe.

Moon stood from her bed, shaking off the previous nights dream. Though, a dream was not really what it was. Nightmares of the end of her time at Jade Mountain Academy still left her shaken and struck, despite the events taking place nearly 6 months ago. Still, she was haunted, and still she felt guilty for trusting Darkstalker as blindly as she had. Perhaps, if she had severed connections with him sooner than later, his escape would not have taken place.

She rolled her wings back, shrugging off stiffness and fatigue. A chill entered her bones, and any attempt to shake it off was futile. Moments passed, and her door slowly opened. A delicate dragon, small and meek entered, her scales a deep purple and her eyes a soft blue.

"Good morning Dreamcatcher." Moon said, stifling a yawn. The little dragon dipped her head down in a polite bow. "Good morning miss, did you sleep well?" She inquired, already beggining to tidy Moon's quarters.

As per the usual routine, Dreamcatcher joined Moon in the mornings to be by her side as a servant throughout the day. And as per the usual routine, Moon would insist that she required nothing more from Dreamcatcher other than her company. Dreamcatcher, would simply continue her cleaning, saying something along the lines of "Its really no trouble", or "I am simply doing my job."
