I woke up to the loud noises of people. I got up only to feel the worst headache.
I felt someone beside me. It was a guy sleeping by the bed. Well, waking him up turns out to be one of my worst decisions ever.
"Alia! You're awake! Thank god!" he exclaimed right after he saw me.
'Alia? Who is that?' I thought. 'I think I know her but I can't remember where...'
"Wait, I'll call the doctor," he said and ran in a hurry.
'That's weird. Who is he anyway? And where am I?' I asked myself.
The room is filled with patients and everyone is a mess. I believe this is a hospital ward. If my mom finds out about me staying in this room, she'll make a fuss.
I come upon a mirror beside the hospital bed and I took it. I can't have my face tainted with scars, I have a game to cheer next week.
When I saw my face in the mirror, I barely recognized it. "Who is this girl? What happened to me?" I said to myself.
'Wait... Siya yung nabangga kong girl! Omg, does that mean nagkapalit kami ng body? Wow...' I thougt to myself.
When he came back, a doctor along with a middle-aged couple and another kid came along.
"Alia! Baby, I'm glad you're awake." the woman said as she hugged me tight.
"Hold on, hun. Hayaan mo muna yung doctor na i-check up siya." the man said pulling the woman away, and giving way for the doctor.
The doctor checked up on me and ran a few tests.
Once he was done, he came up to the couple and said, "Your daughter's vital signs are fine. However, we did an MRI and found that she has temporary amnesia. Her memories can come back but I'm not sure about how long. I will also prescribe pain relievers for her. I will check on her in a few days to see if she's ready to go back home."
"Thank you so much, Doc." the woman said.
While they are talking, the two boys walked up to me.
The one that looks 15 years old hugged me tight and even cried.
"Ate Alia, wag mo na uulitin yun ah. Ayokong mawalan ng ate..." he said in between his sobs.
The other boy, that was sleeping beside me earlier, just caressed his back. I noticed tears coming out of his eyes but I stayed quiet about it.
When the couple walked up to us, the two fixed themselves and the couple told us what the doctor had said.
"That's why we need to take extra care of her from now on. Got it, boys?" the man said.
"Copy that, sir!" the boys said in unison.
I just watched them with a blank face.
'I think these boys are her siblings and the man is her Dad. She has a nice family. Now I feel jealous.' I thought to myself.
I am too lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice the woman come up to me.
She caressed my hair. "Alia, are you alright?" she said softly.
"Yeah, I'm feeling a lot better," I said, awkwardly.
"I'm sorry, Alia... This shouldn't have happened if I didn't force you and Ali to come with your uncle," she said softly. I didn't say anything. I just looked down as I don't know what to say.
"Alia," someone called so I raised my head. It was the guy earlier, the one I woke up with.
"Why don't we start with introductions, maybe your memories will come back that way." he continued.
"Your name is Aliana Rose Vargas. You are the eldest daughter and I came to life a few minutes after you," he said with a grin.
"I'm Alistair Rome Vargas, I am your twin brother. This is Andrew Royce Vargas, our baby brother. These are our parents. This is mom, Camilla Esther Vargas and this is Dad, Gerald Vargas." He said, pointing to everyone who he is introducing me to.
"We are your family, Alia. And we'll always be here for you." he finally said and pulled me into a hug. The others followed him and hugged me tight.
The hug is comforting. This is just the first day of me living in this body and yet it feels so welcoming.
It was too overwhelming for me that I teared up. The woman noticed that and wiped my tears.
"It's fine, baby. We're here..." she said, softly.
I finally felt loved.
