The next morning, the girls were jolted awake by Amber's alarm. A deep groaning "Nooo" came out of Abby as she rolled over and brought her pillow over her ears. Amber turned off the alarm and turned towards her friend, she gently shoved her shoulder before getting out of bed.

"Come on, you brat. We can't be late again." She grumbled as she opened her dresser drawer to pick out some clothes to wear. Amber thought for a while before deciding on a pair of black jogger pants, with a black tank top with a white depiction of a tree on the front. She put on her clothes as Abby was beginning to lumber out of the bed, Abby had slept in her clothes. They were similar to Amber's but Abby was wearing black leggings with a graphic tee of her favorite band on the front.

After the two girls had done their makeup and eaten their breakfast, they had to endure a boring bus ride to school. It was surprisingly loud for 7:30 in the morning, Abby tried to chat with Amber a few times, but Amber was still far too exhausted to offer any intelligent conversation. Amber stepped off the bus once it pulled into the loop of her high school, where she was a sophomore. She said her farewell to Abby before beginning to walk to her locker. She felt a presence at her side and looked to see her friend, Chris.

"Hey girl." He spoke in his usual, chipper voice, making Amber smile.

"Heh, hey Chris. How are you this morning?" Amber responded quietly as she walked with Chris to their lockers, they were neighbors.

"I'm alright, although I overheard chatter, apparently there's gonna be a pop quiz in history." Chris sounded frustrated.

"Ugh, WHYYY. What is it with Mr. Gillette? I swear he throws a quiz at us once a week." Amber threw her head back in a frustrated sigh. She had always hated history, she was more of a chemistry whizz, high marks all year long in that class.

"Heyyy, relax. I'm in history before you, I can give you an inside look." He said as he leaned close, giving Amber a detective stare, to which she laughed.

"Sure, Sherlock. I'll keep my phone on me in gym class. Just send me some stuff to prepare for." Amber said before she opened her locker and placed her hoodie inside before shutting it again. She said goodbye to her friend before heading to her first class, English, then Chemistry...

Then gym.

~~~~~~
English was as boring as ever, her teacher had to be the most boring woman to ever exist. She somehow managed to make reading a chore, and Amber LIKED reading. She walked to her chemistry class with her head down, on autopilot as she trudged through the halls. She was jolted from her monotony when two members of the faculty jogged down the hall past her, walkies in hand. She watched them pass her, she saw that they had a look of grim worry plastered on their faces. Her eyes narrowed as she reached the doorway to her chemistry class. The frantic faculty members rounded the corner at the end of the hall before Amber entered the room. She entered the room and sat at her desk, this was a class that she actually enjoyed and was very good at.
However, her mind was elsewhere, and plagued with troubles.
~~~~~~

Amber entered the massive gym, still wearing her clothes. She was never one to put enough effort into gym class to actually break a sweat, therefore she rarely changed into gym clothes. She leaned against the wall of the gym and began absentmindedly scrolling through her phone as more girls began to file into the gym, including Abby, who also hadn't changed. Finally the instructor entered the gym with her clipboard in hand.

"Alright, ladies! Let's get stretching!" Her voice echoed through the cavernous room. Amber and Abby groaned before joining the group who had begun stretching, before the school's PA system crackled to life.

"Attention students. We will be entering lockdown. Teachers, lock your doors and don't allow anyone to leave." The principal sounded...scared. The girls in the gym began a wave of worried chatter before the gym teacher regained control.

"Now now, calm down! We can still resume class, I'll just lock the door." The teacher stated as she walked towards the door and locked it.

Amber's phone began buzzing frantically in her pocket, she pulled it out to see that Chris was calling her. Amber and Abby exchanged a look before Amber looked at the gym teacher, who was eyeing her for having a phone in class. Amber ignored the look and answered the call anyway.

"Hello?" She answered the phone with a quizzical tone.

"Amber? Are you okay?!" Chris' voice was frantic.

"Woah, dude. I'm just in gym class, why wouldn't I be okay?" Her demeanor dropped to worry as she locked eyes with her teacher again, who had become intrigued in the situation.

"There's some freaky looking people outside the school! They're banging on the windows, trying to get inside!" Chris was shouting now. Amber's eyes went wide, she brought her phone down away from her face and put the phone on speaker.

"Say that again, Chris." She stated, her eyes never leaving her teacher.

"These freaky looking people with black veins all over them are banging on the windows! They look rabid!" There was a short shuffling noise from Chris' end, "Hey what- OH FU-" Chris' voice was cut off by a loud shattering noise from his end. Amber jumped slightly at the noise before her heart started racing from the noises that followed. There was this strange gutteral shrieking, followed by the screams of students. Amber quickly hung up the phone before she dropped it and brought her hands up to her head. The room was silent for way too long before a small girl with blonde hair finally broke the silence.

"What the fuck was that?" She said in a scared tone.

"Carly! Language!" The teacher scolded.

"No, fuck that shit. What the FUCK was THAT?!" She was scared now, borderline panicked, this caused the rest of the room to begin shouting in a panicked manner. The teacher tried to calm down the room, to no avail.

BANG BANG BANG

Everyone's head whipped to the door as the room fell silent.

"Amber, it's me! Let me in, PLEASE!" It was Chris.

"Let him in!" Amber shouted to the teacher.

"But the lockdown-" The teacher began before Amber shouted.

"LET. HIM. IN!" The teacher jumped slightly when Amber shouted. She quickly shuffled over to the door with her keys in hand, she turned the key in the lock and Chris burst into the room before slamming the door behind him. There was a wave of gasps and muffled screaming as everyone saw he was covered in smears and flecks of blood.

"Holy shit Chris?! What the hell happened out there?" Abby shouted, her voice trembling.

"They...the things broke through the windows of my classroom... everything...happened so fast...I managed to get away but..." Chris' eyes were wide and frantic, he was still leaning against the door, panting heavily.

"They killed Mr. Gillette..."
