Rosario + Vampire: Yokai Legacy

1. New Territory

Here I am, my name is Kenji Nakamura, and I just arrived at my first day at Yokai Academy as a sophomore. I was told it's rare Yokai Academy accepts people who are not a freshman. Regardless, my parents seemed to think that this was a better school for me than my original. I do not know why yet though.

"Hey kid."

I turn around to notice the bus driver grabbing my attention. I must have got lost in thought. 

"Yes sir?"

"Watch your back there kid. I know a man just like you who went here. Name was Tsukune Aono. Anyways, take care kid." The bus driver smirks and drives off.

Tsukune Aono, I wonder why he mentioned that to me.

I start to walk down the path towards the school when suddenly I hear a bicycle. I turn around to see someone coming, and I quickly move out of the way. I turn back around to see the bicycle has stopped and a gorgeous girl with pink hair steps off of it. 

"Oh I'm sorry, are you okay?" The girl asks.

"Yeah yeah, I'm fine."

Suddenly, the girl walks up to me and gets really close. She starts to smell me.

"Huh, that scent. Yo... you're human aren't you."

"I mean yeah, aren't we all."

"You should turn around." The girl mumbles.

"What do you mean?"

"I had a friend who came here once. He was once human living amongst us monsters, but eventually it caught up to him. Please, don't stay here. I can't go through that again."

"A school for monsters? Look, I'm not sure what kind of cosplay you guys are into here, but I'm good. I'll just keep on going and check it out. Got to see it to believe it ya know." I give here a reassuring smile.

She smiles back to me, "Well, if you persist at least let me stay by your side. My name is Moka Akashiya."

"That's fine with me. My name is Kenji Nakamura. So what cosplay are you into?"

"I told you silly, it's not cosplay. This is a school made for real monsters. You're playing with fire just by being here. If you really want to know though, I'm a vampire."

"Right." I can't help but laugh.

"I'll show you." Moka says.

"Huh?" 

Suddenly, Moka gets close to me again and starts to bite my neck.

I scream out in pain, but suddenly the pain dissipates after a few seconds. 

It doesn't hurt?

Moka stops biting and just stares at me.

"See?" Moka chuckles.

"Wh... what the hell was that? I didn't say you could just do that." 

"Oh I'm sorry. I was afraid there was no other way to prove to you that I'm a vampire." Moka starts walking back and forth in place panicking. 

"Hey, relax will ya." 

Moka seems to not stop so I put my hand on her shoulder and she stops to look at me. 

"It's okay, Moka." I give her a reassuring smile.

"I'm sorry. I used to have a human friend named Tsukune who went here. Something tragic happened though, and he's no longer here now. I'm just cautious. I don't want another situation like that to happen again."

"Well, I'm not sure who this Tsukune guy is, but I'm not him. I'm Kenji, and I don't plan on anytime soon on going anywhere. I think I'm going to stick this place out."

"Oh yay!" Moka jumps in excited and gives me a hug.

I wrap my arms around her in return.

"Okay, shall we get to the academy?" I smile.

Moka nods in agreement.

We make it to the front of the academy when suddenly a girl with blue hair approaches us.

"Kenji, get behind me." Moka warns. 

"Who's that?" The mysterious girl asks.

"No one, Kurumu. Why don't you just go?" 

"What? I'm not bothering you. I just wanted to say hi to your new friend. He has such a familiar scent." Kurumu grins. 

I spin around Moka to see who this Kurumu is. Oh wow, she's absolutely beautiful.

"Kenji, no." Moka mumbles.

"It's fine, I promise." I flash Moka a smile.

"So you're names Kenji huh?" Kurumu asks.

"Yeah, that's it. I take it you're Kurumu?"

Kurumu nods her head.

"Well, what is it that you needed?" I ask.

"Nothing really, I just wanted to see who you were. Especially since you got a scent so familiar to."

Suddenly, Kurumu is cut off by Moka's hand. Kurumu take Moka's hand off her mouth.

"What the hell, Moka?" Kurumu screams. 

"I don't want to hear his name again." Moka sheds a tear.

Is this about Tsukune? Moka must have been really close with him.

"Okay, let's just all relax now and get to our first class." I chuckle and rub the back of my head with my hand.

"Whatever." Kurumu says as she walks away.

Moka turns to me and gives me a hug.

"Mo... Moka?"

"Kenji, please be careful." 

I look down at Moka and wipe the tears from her eyes. 

"It's okay, Moka." I give her another smile.

We make our way to our homeroom class. 

"Welcome everyone, I'm your teacher, Shizuka Nekonome. You can all call me Ms. Nekonome though! Take a seat wherever you'd like." The teacher welcomes us in.

Wow, she seems really nice.

"I'm so glad we're in the same homeroom together, Kenji." Moka gives me a warm smile.

"Me too."

"So am I!" I hear a girl shout.

I turn around to see Kurumu wrapping her arms around my back.

"Oh it must be fate, Kenji."

"Oh, hey, Kurumu." I chuckle.

I turn back to Moka to see an annoyed expression on her face.

Shit.
