We continued talking for a moment. Just about random dumb shit that comes to mind. Random complaints and whatnot.
"Why are we just hanging out here?" Scoffs Henrietta.
"I don't fucking know, let's just leave." I suggest. About to make my way towards the back of the school.
Before I can take another step however I hear one of the voices I dread the most.
"Uhm, hey Pete!" It calls.
I slowly turn back around to see the Vamp kid, nearly directly beside me. Jeez it was basically a fucking jumpscare. I didn't even hear him walk up to us.
I instantly look at Henrietta and Firkle to see if they're reacting the same way I am right now. But no. Of course they fucking aren't. They're just looking at each other, obviously ignoring the torture I'm being put through right now.
I really didn't want to respond. I wanted to just ignore him and keep walking. But something inside me didn't let me do that. So instead I let out a pained
"What."
In response.
I could tell he was surprised I actually said something. Normally I would have ignored him like I wanted to. I don't know what's going on with me today.
I continue trying to avoid looking at him, but it's difficult when he's trying his best to maintain eye contact. Whoever taught this kid manners didn't do a very good job.
"I wanted to see if you were free after school, Per say." He smiles.
I hate that lame ass catchphrase he has. He always says it. Most of the time it doesn't even make sense.
"Why do you need to know?" I glare at him.
God this sucks. Henrietta and Firkle started backing away from us. If I didn't know any better I'd think they found this hilarious.
I decided to finally look back up at him. He looked choked, like he didn't know what to say.
What the fuck is wrong with him?
"Dude. Spit it out already." This is annoying.
What's the point in walking up to me if you can't even talk? He's probably got a plastic fang stuck in his throat.
"Well you see, there's this very cool vamp hangout area! But the rest of my coven is too afraid to go." He finally got out.
'Coven' for Christ's sake can this guy get any lamer?
"And? What does that have to do with me?" I roll my eyes. This kid needs to get to the point already. Sure, I already know what he's going to ask me. But I'd rather hear it coming from him.
"Well.. I was wondering if you'd want to check it out with me, Per say." I swear, if this kid says 'Per say' one more fucking time.
"And you're asking me why?" Jeez. Can this get anymore gay?
"Because everyone else said no.." He muttered.
"And that's not my problem." I cross my arms.
"I see.. Alright then." I could see his expression soften.. turning.. sad? What the fuck.
"Fine. Whatever. I'll go with you." I feel bad. For whatever reason.
His eyes instantly lit up. As if he's been waiting for this for a while. Fucking weirdo.
"Alright! I'll meet up with you after school Pete!" He yelled as he ran back to his group.
Well great. Now everyone's staring at me. Ew.
"Sorry Pete. We didn't want to get involved with that freak." Henrietta walks back up to me, careless of what she just did.
"I can't believe you just left me there to talk to him. You know I hate that kid." I turn back around, walking towards the back of the school once again.
"Come on Pete.. Don't be mad at us." Firkle mumbled, attempting to keep up with my walking pace.
"Yeah yeah. Whatever." I scoff.
Once we get outside I almost instantly take off my backpack, looking through it for my cigarettes. Henrietta and Firkle sit in their regular positions in front of the door of the storage room. Michael would normally be sitting on the steps to the back-entrance, but he isn't here. That conformist.
We sat for a while. Just smoking and listening to music. Complaining about something here and there. This world is so boring. The only good thing about it is the occasional drama that pops up, but only when it doesn't involve me.
I sigh, going on my phone. Soon getting interrupted by the bell once again, telling us it's time to go back to class. Class? Yeah that's a joke. Just another pitiful excuse to try and make us conform with society by teaching all of us the same useless junk. Whatever.
I stand, putting everything back into my backpack as I wait for Henrietta to get her stuff together. Soon walking back to class and repeating the same useless cycle. Secretly hoping someone would die, or a fire would start or whatever to get me out of this classroom.
I put my head down on my desk, not being able to care about the lecture. But the teachers gave up on me a while ago, so it's not like they give a rat's ass if I fall asleep or not.
I close my eyes, opening them again about 40 minutes after to find almost everyone grabbing their things and leaving. Schools over I guess. I don't even see a point in me coming to class anymore. I stand from my seat, throwing my backpack over my shoulder and walking out. No Henrietta, Firkle, or Michael in sight. They fucking left me, again. Assholes.
I continue to walk over to my locker, dropping my backpack onto the ground as I reach it. I put in my locker combination, still drowsy from the nap I took on my desk.
"Pete?" I hear a familiar voice from behind me.
I turned my head slightly to see who it was. Mike.
"What." I responded, slightly annoyed. Turning back to my locker, opening it.
"Are you almost ready to go?" He messed with his fang nervously.
Fuck. I forgot I had plans with this freak. I just want to go home.
"Yeah, I guess." I put my backpack into my locker, grabbing my cigarettes from it, then closing it.
"Cool! Let's go!" He smiled.
I hate how cheerful he is, the positivity is just annoying.
"Whatever." I walk past him towards the front of the school, and he follows close behind me.
