By the time they got to the Palace. The courtyard was almost full of horses. The King and the new Queen had already arrived. Dismounting hastily she glanced around taking in her surroundings.

The Courtyard was enormous.  Easily it could fit over a thousand horses or perhaps even more, probably her house, the farmhouse and the stable as well. She thought in complete awe as she looked around. Stable hands ran in between the horses. Bringing out water for them to drink and some were being led away towards the stables beyond. There hooves making a clacking on the stones and creating a cacophony of noise.  The kings royal arms fluttered in the breeze.

In front of her were stone steps which led to a huge wooden oak  front door. It had been swung open to welcome the guests. Two guards stood silently either side. Holding spears and dressed in armor with the kings standard emblazoned upon there breasts. Her daughter took her hand and William and Thomas followed behind, as they climbed up the steps slowly passing the guards making  their way into a small hall, before walking through it and on into the great Hall.

The hall was vast. Its ceiling reached endlessly towards the sky supported by wooden beams and huge stone pillars. Stained glass windows adorned the length of the hall. Each window a different pattern and color. Beautiful tapestries much like the ones in her home but a little more grand hung upon the walls intricately woven with gold flakes.

Long wooden tables had been placed the length of the grand hall. On them were small decorations of white flowers and golden and blue ribbons. Looking towards the end of the hall she saw the top table. It sat higher on a dais than the rest of the hall. The King and Queen sat in the middle looking resplendent in there robes of state on two golden ornate thrones. The cloth of state was hung behind them a deep red velvet with two lions embroidered on in gold. The king's coat of arms and the Queens with her fleur de lys.

The hall was loud with noise.  Nobles were laughing and chatting away whilst others stepped forward towards the two thrones to pay homage. Minstrels were playing jolly tunes whilst some people clapped along. Drink was being consumed by the gallon. Making her way slowly towards a table following her children and William she sat down putting her head into her hands.

"Ma-mare" Mary whispered sitting down next to her. Her face scrunched up, anxiously assessing hers. She was biting her lip and her eyes shone a watery brown in the light.

" Ma-mare do you want me to speak to Sir Thomas? You do look so very pale Ma-mare. I am deeply worried"

William knelt down in front of Elisabeth taking her hand. Then turning to the children said softly

" Mary why don't you get Ma-mare a drink of wine with Thomas?"

 Mary nodded.

 "Come brother"
