The Grand Feast of the Undead

The bright rays of sunshine seeps through the windows, the warmth and blinding light it emits woke me up from my sleep. It's another day, I reluctantly get up from my bed, even though I don't want to. Every day is just the same, things just repeat, it's like we're stuck in a loop of unending exhausting activities that just sucks the life out of us. To start my day, I begin with tidying up my bed, washing my face then brushing my teeth. I went downstairs to have breakfast, cooked some eggs and heated up some left over rice then prepared to go to school. Time flies by so fast, many years have passed and now I'm already a graduating college student. I always worry about the future to come, I sometimes wish that something big would happen to stop this nonsense life and so that I don't have to worry about the future anymore,  as if something like that would happen. I put on my glasses, checked my outfit for the day, looking good with my black sweater and light washed mom jeans I guess, I put on my white sneakers and backpack then stepped out of  the house ready to face head on what this day holds.

I am Hani, a third year college student at University XXX taking a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. As I arrive at school, I already want to go home, I'm so tired of college and I don't even think that what I'm learning is enough to make me prepared and competent for the workforce. My first class of the day will be at the computer lab, which doesn't make this day much better because the computer lab is located at the third floor of the new building in my University, it will be quite a tiring walk into the building and up the stairs. As I arrive at the computer lab or as we call it the CompLab, my classmates are already complete and the only person missing is me, it's not that I'm late, they just arrive early and to my luck the professor is not here yet, well of course if the Professor was then I am late. My friends waved to me as I entered the room, I have couple of friends there are total of six of us, four boys and two girls including me, if it was my choice I would've befriended more girls than boys but the majority of our class are boys. To introduce my friends there's Leone, Jay, Chris, John and Annie. Annie waved to me, patting the seat and computer next to her that she saved, one row can fit six people so my friends and I are all in one row on the furthest back in the room to avoid being the target for unexpected recitation. I put down my bag on the floor then sat.

The class proceeded as normal, the professor arrived just a couple of minutes after me, I was fuckin lucky. The professor apologized for being late, he said that an accident caused traffic on the way. We got busy with the activity that was given to us by the professor, some coding activity that I don't fuckin understand, it was an individual activity and to make the matter worst the professor will choose randomly for who will present their finished work and of course with my dumb luck, I was picked. I pretty much have a fear of speaking in front of many people even when I'm familiar with them, so of course I'm shaking and sweating so much from nervousness.

As it was my turn to present, a sudden scream was heard from the outside followed with a loud shivering growl, more and more scream can be heard, loud thuds and crashing and before we know it there were also gunshots. We didn't know what was happening, the windows are closed and we have the type of windows that are pretty opaque so only shadows can be seen and besides that the doors were also closed. While all that was happening, everyone in class was just staring at the windows in shock not moving an inch from their seats. More banging and screams can be heard and all of us in the room are starting to panic out of fear. The professor calmed us down, asking us to stay quiet, he said he was going to check what was happening outside, it was a dumb fuckin bad idea, "I don't thinks that's a good idea sir" I said, the professor heard it, he looked around and said " There might be some people who needs help, so we need to check ", this ain't gonna be good, I thought to myself. The professor slowly went closer to the door at the front, I slowly stood up, getting ready for what's to come, The professor turned the door knob then opened it, everything happened quickly, before we knew it there was now a pool of blood on the floor and there lies the body of our professor with a human-like creature devouring him.

The professor opened the door and was suddenly attacked by something, knocking him back inside the room, he tried to defend his self but it was too late. Everyone froze in shock, me and my friends started slowly backing up close to the back door, one student started screaming, catching the attention of the creature, it went straight to the student and attacked her, the other students tried to help and save her but another creature went dashing inside the room then another and now the professor suddenly stood up snapping his body in a twisted manner. The creatures dashed towards our classmates, attacking them one after another, one student went running to the back door opening it, me and my friends looked at each other then also started to run outside. Stepping out the CompLab we saw the student that we went after already getting attacked screaming, I was having a hard time comprehending what kind of creatures were attacking everyone, they were all over the halls, we ran as fast as we could and tried to avoid these creatures, "Stairs!" I shouted, we ran to the stairs as fast as we could planning to go to the roof but then when we did, we were greeted by those creatures, they were also coming from upstairs which made us stop in our tracks. One student rushing down was running away from a creature, it lunged towards her but she avoided at the last second, the creature went falling down the stairs knocking one of my friends down, Annie, I acted fast and pulled Annie up, "downstairs!" Leone shouted, and with that we ran. The stairs on the way down were full of dead bodies and blood were scattered everywhere, creatures were also everywhere devouring bodies. We made it to the ground floor avoiding these creatures as much as we can, using people getting attacked as a distraction, we ran outside the building and luckily got out of the building unscratched but what lies beyond is what shocked us more, there were more of them outside than inside the building, as I pan my eyes around and took a closer look, that's when i realized what these creatures are... they were not animals, aliens or something... they were humans, they were dead people that has come to life, they were zombies.
