Here I go. On my way to a new town, far away. I always thought I'd stay in the same town for my whole life. But I gotta say, I'm happy we're leaving. Every day was just the same over and over. I'm hoping to change that pattern, I want to make something of myself, I want everyone to know the name Lilith Banes.
My mom recently married Jon. He's been good to her. Ever since my father left us, she's had to work two jobs to come around. I tried helping by looking for a job, but she told me that it was her responsibility to look after me and that I should just enjoy my youth. I didn't like that, but I had to respect it. Besides, I was too young anyways, nobody was going to hire a twelve year old. I'm sixteen now, almost seventeen, so transferring to a new school is going to be weird, I hope those rich kids won't think I'm a weirdo.
'We're here.' Jon said as he drives up to a house which I can only describe as a small castle. It has a big metal gate that opened on its own. The driveway goes all the way to the front door and makes a circle around a fountain so the car wouldn't have to turn around. Right in front of me was the small castle. It has a beige type of brick with a lot of wood worked into it. On the right side is a glass porch with a lot of green in it. I couldn't quite figure out why. Maybe it was just to keep the plants alive. The house is three floors high and the second floor has a bay window. If that bay window is linked to a room, then I already claimed my room. The left side has a cylinder type of tower, which is why it really looks like a small castle. I couldn't wait to explore. Jon saw me looking at the tower. "It's for stargazing. I have a big telescope at the top if you're interested." Of course I was interested, I've never used a telescope in my life. To see stars from so close felt like a fairytale.
Tomorrow is my first day at the new school. My mom got married at the end of June and told me that we would only move at the very end of summer vacation, that way I could still spend it with friends from my home town. Now I have to make new friends, but I'm sure that's going to be a piece of cake, right? The good news is that the bay window is actually linked to a room, and I got it. It's so gorgeous. I mean, it still needs a lot of character, but I can definitely work with the room. The first thing was painting of course so I'm probably going to the store tomorrow after school for some paint. I might be used to not having a lot, but I most definitely can get used to having all of this. As long as I won't turn into one of these snobby people.
Today is the day. Time for the first school day, two more years, and I'll be done with school, well, high school, at least. "Good morning, everyone. I hope you all had a great summer break. We have a new student joining us this year. Why don't you introduce yourself with a little fact about yourself." Said Ms. Lawrence. I looked around and saw eight kids all staring at me. It made me a bit nervous. "Hi, I'm Lilith Banes. I uh, moved here with my mom, and uh, I don't really know what else to say." I saw some girls giggling. This was my first introduction, and I already feel like I made a fool out of myself. Ms. Lawrence turned to me and said: "That's alright. We'll do a quick round with the others. That way, you'll learn their names as well. Jennifer, why don't you start." I saw a girl stand up. She was tall and had beautiful long blond hair with a pink stroke in it. She was wearing a pink crop top with a long wavy skirt and a silver belt. She really looked like a Barbie doll. "Hi, my name is Jennifer Carter, but you can call me Jenny. And my little fact is that I will become a model. Mark my words, peeps, before you know it I will be on every magazine."
"I'm Jin Lee, and I can name a hundred digits of pi."
"My name is Cedric Norrison, but you can call me anytime. My fun fact is that I am colorblind. Might not sound so fun, but it's funny how I found out." His line was so cheesy, who even still says that especially to introduce themselves. I did, however, wanted to know how he found out that he was colorblind. Was it through an eye test or mixing outfits or driving through a red light instead of a green. Although, I doubt that that last one would have been a funny way to find out you're colorblind. "Alright, that was everyone. Lilith, you can take a seat wherever you want." Oh my god, I was so caught up in my head that I completely forgot to actually listen to the rest. I hope no one noticed it. What if I have to ask one of them a question and they find out I don't know their names. I quickly sat in front of Jennifer and Jin. That way, if I had a question, I could at least ask them. Throughout the whole class, I felt someone staring at me. It felt like they were shooting lasers through me.
